As someone who hasn't been following this tournament, are there plans for this to be held outside of the US/Canada if this sticks and replaces the outdated All-Star Game?

If not, just scrap it. We already saw this with the world cup in the mid 90's.

Yes, Bettman announced the World Cup will take place with 8 teams in 2028 and that European cities will be able to bid.

Edit: oh, but presumably the all star game would be back.

This is a one off. In 3 years there will be a World Cup and the NHL will open it up to Euro cities to bid to host.

Oh man. I was just out for a walk getting groceries and there were a bunch of hockey canada jerseys, and this old lady had the little maple leafs on her cheeks. Canadian flags everywhere. I'm getting fired up, this is big time. How the hell does this game end up being on the 60th anniversary of the creation of our flag? Marketing genius. Let's f***ing go boys
