I don't think it will have massive historical significance, which was my original point.

People will watch it, cheer, and then move on. Like the 2016 World Cup which no one brings up very often.

If the Olympics had been chugging along, in 2018, and then in 2022, with NHL players, not only would this tournament matter even less, it likely wouldn't have taken place at all.

I think it still would take place. The NHL wants their own hosted tournament where they get all the revenue. It would not hold a lot of prestige though.
