I put that into Google translate, I’m sure some stuff gets lost in translate but it sounds from that article they give Canada zero respect for the win at all.

Oh well, we deserved the win and glad Canada won it. Our 27th Gold medal.

Canada has finished 1st or 2nd in 42/74 World Championships we’ve been at. This includes those years we could send NHLers and our basically beer league guys played Soviet and other European “amateurs”.

Pretty impressive to have Gold or Silver in 42 of 74 World Championship.

This one is truly unique as we started 0-3, needed help just to make the QF game as the 8th seed. Then we proceed to knock off the #1, #2, and #3 seeds on the way to Gold. Just never quit and battled through adversity to victory.

This Silver medal is the result
what you'll get if you cannot shoot to score when you have powerplay.
5 attempts on powerplay for Finland and zero goals is freaking pathetic performance.
But when your powerplay players are stone hands like Kaski etc what you can expect.

Also penalty killing wasn't better either and thanks a lot for idiotic penalties
to misters Ohtamaa and Ruohomaa. You two goddamn idiots destroyed our gold medal dreams.

Also i have to ask what a hell Koivisto was doing in Canada's 1st powerplay goal.
Is penalty killing dman's job to clear that goddamn puck out of best scoring sector
or is it stand there like hard and erected c**k in Russian catch house
because that's basically all what Koivisto did and Comtois scored.

Yeah yeah i know damn well that because covid19 and NHL playoffs
and injuries and NHL contract negotiations we didn't get
guys like Laine, Aho, Rantanen, Teräväinen, Hakanpää Heiskanen etc
to help us in these IIHF worlds but that's not a reason to play your two worst games ( semifinal and gold medal game ) wrong time into tournamnet that's an lousy and pathetic excuse.

And being totally honest Germany should have been into gold medal game.
they dominated against us most of time in Saturday's semifinal.

Damn i'm pissed for Finland's so called powerplay and penalty killing which cost us a gold medal.
Congrats Canada.

Jesus..chill out man, they did what they were capable of. Both teams had full effort, but only one team wins.

It was going on from both sides, both should cool it.
I 100% agree that both sides should act graciously no matter whether they count themselves among the winners or the losers. But it is still somewhat understandable if the loser is being sore - as the word "sore" itself implies, losing generally hurts.

But what excuse there is for being a bad winner? Naturally, the winning side is allowed to be happy, cheer and celebrate. But if you go and rub it in on the losing side, give some extra sting on that loss, there is no excuse. You're just being a richard.

Hiring Gerard Gallant by now should have been the easiest decision several GM's could have made.

I think Gallant wants to choose a place, or it could be a money decision. WE don't know what's happening behind the scenes. He's actually an old man now, he last coached Florida a beautiful sunny location, than he coached Vegas another beautiful sunny location maybe he's not interested in non sunny locations ? who knows.

so apparently Team Canada travels back to North America on the same flight with team USA...

I don't know what makes you think that there is zero respect to team Canada - of course not. So i will assume it is a Google translate issue. Unfortunately, out of all the languages listed in Google Translate, Finnish language is probably the least translatable.

Anyway, this article is mostly about players'/coach's feelings. Of course they are upset, they wanted to win very badly. And can't blame them. But none of them said anything bad about Canadians. :)

The article does call the Canada win a coin-flip victory (due to the 3-3 play). But otherwise I don't see any disrespect at all toward Canada in the article.

Taking a quick look at various Finnish news sites, the common reaction among Finns seem to be that 1) Canada was the better team, and 2) the 3-3 OT system is bad. I think most, even Canadians, on this board agree with that.
The Finns seem to be happy with the Silver, even though Gold would have been preferred.

The 3-3 system is terrible in a gold medal game.

both teams deserved to continue on by normal rules, but I understand it due to tv times and scheduling.

both teams player their asses off today, showed a ton of heart from both sides.

Next year in Finland should be amazing, they sure know how to get behind their team and show a ton of passion.
