Wow ladies way to go.

I would've had the whole squad fake illness/injury simultaneously. Can't sue if you can't play b/c you're "hurt."

Maybe someone who is more attuned to this stuff can help me out... In 2021 the Women won Olympic gold. It was a big deal and generated a ton of positive attention for Canadian soccer. The following year the men qualified for and played in their first WC in 36 years. Once again it was a big deal and generated a ton of positive attention for Canadian soccer. You would think the folks running the show would have been able to spin these successes into millions of dollars in new revenue, but instead they need to slash the budget?!?! Is the organization really that incompenent and/or corrupt?:dunno:
Both.

Good. The Standing Committee accomplished some things when it came Hockey Canada.

Never have i seen the Canadian government so unified on something, hopefully the same thing happens for Canada Soccer. Could bring more to light.

We aren't playing great competition, however, Canada's u-17 team is looking really good right now.

Currently up 2-0 on Barbados.

Interesting statement. Sounds like CSB is trying to get in front of this while throwing Canada Soccer udner the bus.

Excited to see what happens when they do this whole investigation and it just turns out the Canadian government has woefully underfunded Canada Soccer for years to the point where they had to enter into a predatory deal with CSB to have enough money to operate.

This may have gotten overshadowed with everything else going on in Canada Soccer, but FIFA has officially confirmed that the CMNT will automatically qualify for the 2026 World Cup (as was expected, but good to see it was confirmed)

Does anyone on this board follow youth soccer closely enough? Do we have any 13-18 year olds in the positions we need a break through in for the next WC? Like genuine quality as well.

Notably would be a pure 6, some CBs, and a GK are where the squad is aged.

I'm personally not aware of any in those positions. Maybe Justin Smith as a potential piece (20 year old CB/6 who plays in Nice's system).

Praying there's some dual nationals who discover Canadian citizenship in those positions or someone explodes out of the the MLS or CPL systems ala Alphonso Davies

EDIT: this is Canada's u-17 team who are currently playing a tourni, so that may give you an idea of the prospects 15-17 years old Camps - Canada Soccer

Tom McGill is with Brighton (@robertmac43). He's 22, but that's not as big a deal for a GK. He's played England U17 but nothing since. Not sure his quality.

Also if we want a Borjan replacement there's his 19 year old brother Nicolas Borjan who plays GK with Milan Borjan in Red Star Belgrade's youth system lol

I know little about his quality though

I don't know too much about him, since i didn't follow his many loan spells over the years. He has been the third option for Brighton's senior team this year so there is little in terms of game data on him.

Hopeing being with the senior team has at the very least been a good learning experience.

With Hatayspor's season being shutdown due to the earthquake, Sam gets a chance to play elsewhere.
Sucks it came to their season being shut down, hopeing the City, club, and everyone involved have a safe road to recovery

Happy to see Sam continue to grow, Galatasaray should be a great place to do that.

Really cool visualization here. Obviously the MLS teams will have less minutes, but i think this shows where the value is in the CPL. So many Canadian development minutes would be lost if not for this league.

Says something when Pacific/Cavalry/Forge are at the top of the list too. They're giving Canadians big minutes and finding success. Great to see.

Pacific is especially impressive to me, a lot of those minutes would be younger players. It's a little easier for Forge to have big minutes as they have older Canadians like Bekker.

Overall though, it;'s great to see all around.
