I have a question - why is Brook playing on both sides in the game? One shift i saw him on the right side. Next, on the left. Why?

He was out for the last PP when Czech's hit the post short handed.
Yes, but he played very limited minutes overall. I didn't say he was injured, I said he may have just been held out rather than benched for errors. Hunter seems to love the "19 year olds", so I'm not convinced any level of poor play from them will change his depth chart on defense.

I noticed it as well against the Swiss but wasn't sure if i was off on my tracking of the D-corps. Seems like Hunter is plug and playing Brook which is really strange. Hard to build up chemistry with D-partners when you get jerked around like that.

I wasn't able to watch the game and I doubt that I will see a replay as I can't access TSN. Sounds like a positive game for Canada overall, though looks like the defence still needs refining. In the highlights Lafreniere's goal is nice, maybe Hunter should call out Bouchard next. I hope that Canada was harder on the forecheck and initiated the play more.

Also, as someone who criticized the Entwistle selection, I must admit that he's seemingly one his job from an energy and defensive perspective while scoring in every game. I hope he continues it.

Just about all of their goals came from hard forechecking, they really earned their win today

Bouchard was REALLY bad ! I Did not believe the many London fans who kept trying to warn everyone during Bouchards draft year. Doesnt have a clue without the puck.

Brooks needs to play more and just role 5 Dmen and have Bouchard just be a PP specialist.

So the Jake Bean treatment?

When they do public polls, there's a consistent percentage of the population that answers with absolute raving nonsense, which they call the lizardman constant. I theorize that this extends to public message boards, as well.
I only watched the defense last game, yes McIsaac had some hicups however he has a lot going for him. He has pretty damn good speed moving fwd, he has a very good heavy shot, he is physical he is pretty good at clearing lanes and is only 18. I thought there were better options this year but next year with some progression he should be top 4 in a shutdown role. Needs to clean up his first pass and awareness without the puck.

He led the Canadians in TOI by a dman last night so Hunter clearly liked him. Saying he's been the worst dman on the team seems to be a reach to me.

Some people didnt like him in the pretourney and theyve just held onto that all tournament. Hes gained Hunters trust though, against the Swiss when they were defending the one goal lead on the 6 on 4 McIsaac was the one out there.

He hasnt been some complete stud but he definitely hasnt been the worst out there either. Hes been really good on the PK. As an 18 year old D man though this tournament is really tough so just making it is pretty good. He should be an absolute stud next year though

I missed it but apparently he had a hit that might be suspension worthy, anyone have a video??

I don't see the shine with McIsaac. He didn't have a great game last night - his pinch lead to the goal against and he had a few shakey moments. His head shot could have been a major penalty - he's lucky he wasn't caught. I thought it was quite meh last night.

He is playing to an identity. McIsaac needs to avoid the aggressive reads and be a stay at home defensmen. The hit still may result in supplementary discipline, it was quite dirty. Brook had a similar game to McIsaac and Mitchell was terrible, his ice time explains that. I rank the defensmen as follows:

1.) Smith

2.) Dobson
3.) Brook

4.) Phillips
5.) McIsaac
6.) Mitchell

7.) Bouchard

It certainly seems to be a top heavy team, with all 4 lines being dangerous. Good thing DiPietro and Scott seem up to the task.
