Canada Goose is a case study on how stupid people can be if you manipulate their psychology through marketing. In the same way that people will spend money at Tim Horton's because of some twisted notion of embracing an esoteric idea of "Canadian Identity", people will buy Canada Goose jackets because they view it as a product that fights against the "Canadian cold winters." All it is really is a narrative sold to the masses where hardcore Canadians brave the cold. From there it became a fashion trend. Overkill too considering it was built to tackle arctic weather, not ***** -5 degrees weather in Canada.

Don't get me wrong, the narrative isn't stupid (because marketing is focused on narratives designed to prey on certain psychologies), paying upwards of $700+ for a jacket that you could get similar performance for much cheaper price is stupid. Like the saying does, a fool and his money are soon parted.

....Yeah, I don't get my coffee at Tim's out of sheer pride or jingoism.

I get it there because it only costs a third of what I'd have to pay at Starbucks. :help:

Agreed with the rest of your premise, though, since our winters have been ridiculously mild in recent years. Especially here in the GTA.

I'm not even Canadian and I go to Tim Hortons. I could go to DD instead for the same price, or McD or BK for prob a little cheaper. They're all lined up in a row practically on my way to work. I go there because I like the way it tastes.

Ofc not everyone does, but I'm reminded of the time Krispy Kreme came into Canada (Toronto specifically), and most people got triggered and said they would still support Tim's because MUH CANADIANISM even though KK had the superior (and fresher) food items like donuts, éclairs, etc. There are people who will only go to Tim's because of stupid jingoism.

I'm sure there are many who go to Tim's for that reason, just as there are many who feel they need to cheer for the leafs just because they're the "home team".

Now I've never been one of those people.

But I go to Tim's for the cost, familiarity, and I just plain like the taste.
