depends where you live and what you do. Going to be -40 + here overnight in Manitoba so it would be great to have for these cold days but realistically I can get away with a hoodie and a $200 winter jacket in an average Manitoba winter.

guess I am saying, don't waste your money on it. spend 200$ on a decent jacket suited towards your needs/climate than take the rest and hit the casino.

I think the lounge has turned into a bunch of 25 and under internet bros repeating inside jokes and one liners.

Take your question to the Sweden hockey talk board and that should give you a better chance of getting a helpful response. It's not super busy but you may actually get tips from some Swedes there.

They are probably some of the warmest jackets you can buy. People like to think they are expensive because of a "fashion" thing but the truth is its the materials they use to make them. The down feathers are not plucked from geese thus making them much more difficult to get and the Coyote fur lining the hood are fur certified fur trappers and not from fur farms again making it a way more expensive material.

Do you need a jacket that costs 900 dollars? Probably not but it has become a very trendy jacket to get. I drop my step son off at high school and I see a pile of kids coming from the buses pretty much every teen age girl has them now. I doubt many of those girls even go outside in the winter but I can see helicopter parents feeling "safer" knowing there kids are wearing them

Wouldn't support them as they obv support animal cruelty. Also why would ppl pay so much money for a jacket due to a brand name? Puppets

As I mentioned earlier, it's the same reason why many buy overpriced Apple products. That logo goes a long way with them, for some dumb reason. :help:

Canada Goose is a case study on how stupid people can be if you manipulate their psychology through marketing. In the same way that people will spend money at Tim Horton's because of some twisted notion of embracing an esoteric idea of "Canadian Identity", people will buy Canada Goose jackets because they view it as a product that fights against the "Canadian cold winters." All it is really is a narrative sold to the masses where hardcore Canadians brave the cold. From there it became a fashion trend. Overkill too considering it was built to tackle arctic weather, not ***** -5 degrees weather in Canada.

Don't get me wrong, the narrative isn't stupid (because marketing is focused on narratives designed to prey on certain psychologies), paying upwards of $700+ for a jacket that you could get similar performance for much cheaper price is stupid. Like the saying does, a fool and his money are soon parted.

While I agree to an extent, I don't know where you live in Canada but there are many parts of Canada that regularly see -20 or lower for long parts of the winter. Also the jackets are very popular for Arctic and Antarctic expeditions. The build quality is also supposed to be at the top end of winter coats.

That being said, I purchased on of the Sears knockoffs last year and it has served me well enough so far this winter.

....Yeah, I don't get my coffee at Tim's out of sheer pride or jingoism.

I get it there because it only costs a third of what I'd have to pay at Starbucks. :help:

Agreed with the rest of your premise, though, since our winters have been ridiculously mild in recent years. Especially here in the GTA.

I'm not even Canadian and I go to Tim Hortons. I could go to DD instead for the same price, or McD or BK for prob a little cheaper. They're all lined up in a row practically on my way to work. I go there because I like the way it tastes.
