Canes win, I get a couple packages on air, and even got a few live tags without screwing up. Successful night overall.

Not sure if you have anything to do with this, but it was very cool seeing the shot speeds relayed to the Jumbotron in real time. Also the way they were displayed on the board was well done.

I thought Jarvis looked great out there. He doesn’t necessarily need to score more in order to keep getting more and more valuable for this team.

Reminder that we got him essentially for cash.
Somebody needs to find that Athletic piece where a bunch of anonymous GMs were shaking their heads at how much we paid for a draft pick.

Same company handles it, but I personally don’t have anything to do with that. That’s likely someone working on-site in an entirely too small production truck next to the much larger Balley production truck.

With the effort he gave today, may have been a big blessing in disguise missing out on Tarasenko. He was such a stud for the Blues in their Cup run and even 2 years ago but it seems at this point the injuries have piled up and he just doesn't care that much any more.
Tarasenko is a floater these days that can still pick a spot every once in a while. 1 year 3 million, sure take the gamble. Not at 5 though.

Sens fanbase seems pretty unhappy with him tonight.

Ottawa’s defensive system is still atrocious. DJ smith has to the coach with the hottest seat. Chabot and Chychrun looked rough last night.

Ottawa will be scarier on offense with Norris and Pinto. That defense/scheme and goaltending will be their downfall. How scary would Ottawa be if they held on to Gustavsson?

Ottawa fans hate some Michael Bunting. Speaking of Bunting he may not be as successful here 5v5. He needs to be doing dirty work in front of the net waiting to be fed a nice pass. Chasing and cycling the puck isn’t really his thing. If he lives in front of the net on the PP, Im good.

Our PP was a lot more decisive and quick with the puck. At the same time our 2nd unit is bad. We’ll be relying on the 1st group for most of the year.

Our 2nd line looks bad, we have 3 primary passers on the same line. Svech will change a lot there.

Aho was disappointing playing against 4Cs all night. Still impressed with Jarvis’ game.

We’ll see how much of this is fixed over the next 19 games to determine if this is just over analysis from 1 game.

Bunting is Noesen++. Provides a similar skillset but slightly more skill to justify a place higher up the lineup.

The crazy part is, this 'go for it' strategy loses games, but it also inflates everyone's offensive numbers, so they have to pay out the nose to keep their players.

Meanwhile, Aho, who might score 100 in Ottawa and get a 11m+ a year contract puts up 80 in Carolina, and earns less despite playing better hockey.

I don't know if it's intended, but the Canes defensively responsible system is saving them millions in cap hit.

How does it do that? We spend to the cap every year, usually over it when you consider LTIR we've spent. The team is saving nothing, but it is maybe costing some players money.

Lets drill down on this for a second. The new graphics package and small tweaks to the scoreboard for live stats is a really nice touch for this year. It looks much better put together than in years past.

Also, TDA was such a shithead last night, and I mean that in all the right ways. He did so many little things that just pissed Ottawa off every time he was on the ice. At times the Sens were more focused on responding to him than the game and it opened up some opportunities for our other skaters.

If he and Bunting can continue playing like they did last night, and not take it too far, we're going to be a major PITA to play against in the playoffs, and the kind of team that others grow to despise.
