WJC: Canada 2019 Roster Talk

Especially agree with you if Bouchard is there. I doubt he makes Edmonton but who knows. Bouchard can run one unit and Smith the other. No need for a small, weak defensive player thats going to be a liability 5 on 5. A lot can change from now to December and last night was jut a game in the middle of summer but they all looked pretty bad
 
What kind of team will the put together ?

Will they put a gritty slow team or a fast team? Fast with grit ? Grit vs skill?

Tough to say. The only 3 locks are Dobson, Bouchard, and Smith.

Bernard-Docker looked pretty solid and McIsaac should make it as well.

Given the Coach Woo is a lock and he should be on the team regardless. Obviously still a ways away but for me Smith, Dobson, McIsaac, Bouchard and Woo are the basic locks and Brook a good chance of making it

Smith-Dobson
McIsaac-Bouchard
?-Woo/Brook
Woo/Brook

That spot will be a battle between Bernard-Docker, Addison, Joseph, Tychonick, Mitchell, Merkley. Maybe Beaudin, Lauzon, Bernard, X Bouchard, etc but doubtful

What was up with Brook for the WJSS? forgot about him.. I like Woo as well.. Good hitter

Agreed, with the exception that I believe the seventh spot should go to Brook. A more versatile player IMO. It’s close between him and Woo.
 
No love for Mitchell?

I’ve got the depth chart as:

1/ Bouchard
2/ Dobson
3/ Smith
4/ Bernard-Docker
5/ McIsaac

And then everyone else. Numbers aren’t rankings just number of people.

Who's the coach?
 
I’m obviously biased now as a Sharks fan but Merkley needs to be ahead of guys like Woo and probably a few others. You can pair him with a better defensive dman but the offence he brings from the backend is second to none.

I don't think they are going to be hurting for offense from the back end with the defensemen available. I have an extremely hard time seeing anyway Merkley makes this team honestly.
 
I’m sure age has a part to play here as he is still only 17 but even if he doesn’t make the final roster in December he should at the very least have been invited to the summer camp
