That wouldnt be the first mistake in recent years by Team Canada.

To be fair he looked pretty pedestrian at the camp. I think he will end up making it but he needs to have a good start. Canada has lots of guys that can score but do other things as well

Rasmussen will likely be gone to the NHL but if he wasnt, theres no way he would be playing as the fourth line center, especially with a guy like Schnarr playing ahead of him lol. Ones a top ten pick, the others a third rounder who wasnt even on the WJSS team this summer and has had pretty stagnant production the last couple years.

I tihnk that second line coul really do some damage, Canadas top 6 will be good and looks good even in this watered down version here

No Kirby Dach? Pretty sure he's a lock and looked great at the Gretzky-Hlinka Cup this summer

Regardless of all the speculation in who will be available and the team picked there is this nasty little matter of losing too many games to the U.S the last few years that has to be cleared up, need to take care of that virus this year.

Pretty bold to call a draft eligible a lock for a Canadian junior team. A player like Seguin didnt make it in his draft year, Mackinnon touted as first overall for a couple seasons pre draft played in a fourth line role.

Its Canada and draft eligibles have a tough time making it. Not to mention if a young guy does make it, its likely Lafrennierre. Will they take a guy like Dach? Possibly (especially if guys are in the NHL), but it becomes less likely if a young guy like Lafrenierre makes it and he will make it ahead of Dach

I agree with this take.

not only that, but if I were to select a 2001 born 17 year old player for this year's team, other than Lafreniere, I'd take Cozens before Dach. but that's just my preference.

My take before anything gets under way:

Alexis Lafreniere - Robert Thomas - Nick Suzuki
Alex Formenton - Cody Glass - Gabe Vilardi
Michael Rasmussen - Morgan Frost - Owen Tippett
Maxime Comtois - Shane Bowers - XXX
XXX

2 spots up for grabs between Foudy, Studnicka, Dellandrea, Anderson-Dolan and Lavoie.

The only guy I can see not be available is Thomas. If that's the case move Glass and Frost up and shift Rasmussen to centre.

Ty Smith - Noah Dobson
Pierre-Olivier Joseph - Evan Bouchard
Nicolas Beaudin - XXX
XXX

2 spots up for grabs between Brook, Woo, Mitchell, Bernard-Docker and Byram.

Studnicka and JAD are easily over Bowers ATM.

In the battle of 17 year olds in the running for the U20 team, Lafreniere, Dach and Cozens, Dach is off to a roaring start. It's still early, so not much has changed imo. It's still Lafreniere > Cozens > Dach.

Unless we are decimated by unavailable (NHL) players, only Lafreniere makes it.

This thread needs more Cale Makar! I think he’ll be Canada’s best player and one of the best players in the tourney. Is there something I’m missing why he wouldn’t be on the team?

Makar is too old for the WJC. Last year was his 19-year-old WJC, which is the last year of eligibility.
