Post-Game Talk: Can we leave Stu in a California Closet?

did the Oilers get a single chance like Byfield got? or both of Kempe's goals?
goaltending was bad, the defense was worse
Do you think some of it might be that they're tired of playing in front of dog shit goaltending. Even if they play well, Skinner still shits the bed. Might as well take chances and hope you can outscore the worst starter in the league.

That’s just flat out made up. Bouchard is getting shredded. So is Nuge, Walman, the special teams…

Goaltending has been the biggest and most consistent issue all
You know exactly what I’m talking about and the fact that you seem to be getting defensive about it is hilarious. You know exactly that 90 percent of the posts on this board are all about goaltending. You guys are fighting some war against non existent skinner supporters and every time someone suggests a problem other than goaltending you guys jump on them and insult them and call them relatives of skinner or worse. It’s all you guys talk about.

Maybe after last night you guys realized the problem is larger than goaltending, maybe not, it doesn’t matter.
The series is 2-0 and the team deserves it with the way they are playing. They need to fundamental change almost everything they’ve been doing because LA just wants more and it seems like everyone on the team except mcdrai and Perry think they are owed a return trip to the finals.

Because the same goaltender still sucked when the defense didn't, postseason after postseason after postseason, and we're sick of listening to you deflect blame and come up with every excuse in the book to excuse it, when the eye test clearly matches the numbers for everyone who isn't bereft of critical thought.
Deflect blame? Where am I deflecting? Where am i saying that goaltending doesn’t suck? Where am I supporting skinner?

You guys think anything but vitriolic hate towards skinner is a form of support. You guys are confused and polarized that you don’t know up from down or left from right.

neither does skinner in the crease :sarcasm:

Maybe we think that because you make posts like this:

This team has more problems than just goaltending.

Despite everyone on here complaining about a multitude of problems and nobody even remotely implying that goaltending is the only problem.

And probably because you spent all season being one of the biggest, loudest "not his fault-ers."

How am I getting defensive? Hilarious you say that and then ramble this garbage.

Yes goaltending dominates the conversation when your goalie lets in 11 goals in 2 playoff games. That shouldn’t be surprising.

Your head has been in the sand all year when it comes to goaltending so I don’t expect that to change now.

You realize they gave up a 3 on 1 on Pickard’s first shot he faced last night and Kempe scored right? I guess they’re sick and tired of playing in front of him too?

For those (or that one person) who sorely needs to see this:

I made a thread about this during the Vancouver series, but the only goalie with a worse career playoff SV% than Skinner, who didn't play in the 1980's, is Dan Cloutier. There are also 43 goalies who played in the 1980's or earlier who have a better career SV% than Skinner in the playoffs.

Damn. That’s bad. He’s worse than goalies who didn’t even know what butterfly was.

I think they were just checked out on this game already. I think McDavid or Draisaitl played a total of 1 shift while Pickard was in net.

You know, just when I think I might be a tad too harsh on Stu, someone busts out a little tidbit like this to totally blow my f***ing mind. @Oilslick941611 what do you have to say about this piece of info? Even I'M surprised, dude.

And keep in mind, this data INCLUDES the Dallas series.

Show me a fragile team and a “terrible coach” and I will show you a terrible goalie.

Oh yeah, that is issue number 1, I 100% agree with you

Coach exacerbates the bad goaltending with poor management of the goalies and shit systems

I should also add that I believe save percentages were higher in the late 70s and before, but even removing those variables that's a staggering, smoking gun of a number.

What a lame excuse and they have no hope in this series if true
9 minutes left in a 3 goal game after McDavid brought them back from a 4 goal deficit 2 nights before only for Fat Stu to blow it. Yeah I can understand the frustration and need for a reset.

You're probably right though they likely don't have a hope in this series. Too many older/injured guys looking like they can barely skate, missing their #1 D, their other top pairing D playing the worst hockey of his career, and 2 back up goalies on the roster. Thats a lot, even for McDavid and Draisaitl to overcome.
