Post-Game Talk: Can we leave Stu in a California Closet?

How much time do ya got?

Its a weird thing when you're feeling Kings fans more than your own starting goalie. I'm like giving him the gears and so are they....ummmm.

They were laughing at his reaction too. Was getting Monty Pythonesque out there.

Could you imagine if the Org was even thick enough to start this loser at home again?

maybe our crowd starts jeering him again too. What would it take for this org to ever get the message?

Picture it:

Friday night. It’s halfway into the 2nd period and the Kings are nursing a 1-0 lead. Kings get their 11th powerplay of the game and an unscreened slapper from the point goes past Stu. 2-0 Kings. Moments later, Stu lets in a muffin from Byfield seconds after a faceoff. 3-0 Kings. The Kings skate by Skinner celebrating and mocking his stache like they did in the team photo after Game 1. The crowd is stunned.

And pissed. There is a buzzing in the air like an angry hornets nest. The chant starts quiet at first but quickly gains traction as fed up Oilers fans send the biggest message to management they could possibly send.

WE WANT A GOALIE!
WE WANT A GOALIE!
WE WANT A GOALIE!
WE WANT A GOALIE!
WE WANT A GOALIE!

Maybe if I put it out there it will manifest. That would be ****ing beautiful.

Or Idk maybe they win Friday with Skinner. Stranger things have happened.

RNH wouldn't even go in the top 10 if they redrafted it now. All the scouts loved him at the time(Colorado basically stated it was "RNH and everyone else" in their behind the scenes draft war-room at the time, man they lucked out not getting the first overall), but it was all based on the belief that he'd put on weight and transform his junior tier powerplay specialist game into a dominant playmaking NHL pivot. Of course, that never happened, and it looks silly in hindsight that anyone thought that a timid, low motor person and player like RNH would ever reach those heights.

For all of Mcdavid's accomplishments, the carry job he did for RNH's career after Hall and Eberle were unceremoniously punted out of town might be the most astonishing.

Yeah in a redraft it would probably go

1. Kucherov
2. Gaudreau
3. Schiefle
4. Landeskog
5. Huberdeau
6. Couturier
7. Binnington
8. Zibanjead
9. Gibson
10. Danault
11. Nugent Hopkins
12. Klefbom

Honestly push come to shove, I'd rather have Klefbom (healthy) over Nuge.

Next summer is the McKenna’s draft. Alot of teams are going to want to tank to get in the mix for him. I could see the NYI wanting in on that. Skinner, Bouch and RNH for Sorokin should get them around there.
Nurse for Sorokin. Just ensure you play him on every PK and you'll get the 1st overall no problem.

I understand that's how you feel, but I don't agree.
I believe he's NHL backup material.

That's totally ok if you don't agree with that, and I understand what your saying.

But I mean even still - if you think he's backup material, or even if you think there's a starter hidden in there somewhere - how do you look at his body of work this year and feel comfortable with him being the guy in the playoffs?

Best case scenario - he needed to have some time out of the limelight and just really recommit to his craft and go out there and work on his game. Even if you think he's a hidden gem that's just in his head mentally and you want to commit to him long term - how do you look at his game this year and say it's good enough to win with the expectations this team has - and even further to that, how is it even putting him in a position to succeed to basically just leave him in the deep end of the pool and tell him he needs to sink or swim when clearly he's drowning?

What about that makes any sense?

🤣 I forgot about that, what a donkey.

Well, if you’re near the suites you can scream at Mutt & Jeff so it’s not all bad.

I hope Katz saw that, like the time Roenick wore a paper bag and embarrassed him into firing Chiarelli.

It’s honestly easier giving up Oilers hockey than I thought it would. For starters, I hate the NHL now with its corrupt, biased reffing so I maybe watched a total of 5-8 games this season, including the ones where I’d just watch bits and pieces. I didn’t watch much of game 1, didn’t watch any of game 2 because when I saw Skinner was starting, I already knew it was going to be a 5+ against night.

If there aren't major changes after they get swept this offseason, including Jackson getting fired, Schwartz fired, Bowman should be fired but he’ll just be given both roles, Knoblauch fired and Skinner, RNH, Bouchard all traded, it’ll be easy to lower that from 5-8 games to 0.

I’d also say right now with the current state of the team, the chances of McDavid extending are less than 40% right now. He wants a cup. He wants one bad and that’s not happening with the current structure of the org and roster.
God I wish it was this easy for me. I would've left long ago based on the officiating. Remember that series against Winnipeg where a story came out afterwards saying that the refs missed 37 calls in the series against Connor alone? It's just entertainment I guess.
It's truly crazy, but that subreddit is full of weird casual fans which I suppose explains some of that.
Try the Facebook group. Everyone has to be trolling in there. It's asinine.
Thats the last game we're losing in round 1. I know it sounds delusional, but we all know they were limping into the playoffs, with zero momentum and more than a handful of players missing the last 4-6 weeks

The Kings are the best home team in the league, but the worst one on the road of all playoff teams. They have never gone up 2 games on us, it takes experience and maturity to close that deal, as it is infinitely harder to win the latter 2 games. And this Oilers team has experience in coming back in a series as they did 3 of 4 rounds last year.

It will be a completely different script on Friday. Do NOT lose faith comrades. This start was expected, but now the ball comes home court, and the momentum will shift dramatically. Also noticed the Kings are streaky. When they win/lose, it in bunches

Remember, like round 4 last year, it takes 4 wins to clinch a series, not 2. This is FAR from over, and i wholeheartedly believe that was the last game we're losing in round 1. But the key? Pickard. Skinner is now the backup. He's money in games 4-7, so maybe reserve him for the latter half of the series. Friday cant get here soon enough
I wish I felt the same, but this team doesn't seem to have any pride. Hopefully I'm wrong. Also we didn't win round 4. Hopefully he doesn't even see the team flight back to Edmonton.
It was shown in the broadcast. I'm sure somebody here can show a replay of it. Its after the 5th Kings goal, about 1-2mins after. Skinner makes a *save* on a dump in and the Kings give him the bronx cheer. Instead of just eat that shit and hang his head he's laughing and grinning, not a little bit. He was promptly pulled. I'm sure the Oilers players were demanding it at that point.

Connor McDavid also patting Pickard after he comes off bench at end of game. Purposely waited to do that. Clearly Pickard gets the franchise vote after seeing that. Skinner gets a bus to Mexico border. They can figure out what to do with the clown.
Yeah I f***ing saw, unbelievable. I guess the job of a clown is to keep a smile on your face.
Hopefully the curse is contained with this team. A worthy sacrifice, given the alternative.
Lol I bet if you were coaching you would have started Skinner this game as well. Ridiculous.

Kempe is so damn good too. He always burns us. Imagine having a one shot scorer like that in your lineup. L.A. have many. We have Drai.
Oilers don't place a priority on that, they prefer guys that can toe drag and turn down shots to pass the puck away from the slot as quickly as possible.

Yeah amen to everybody that said f*** you to skinner for even smirking and laughing when the crowd mocked him. Absolutely no pride, no gamesmanship, and no fire in this loser whatsoever. Meanwhile here’s our two best players in absolute disgust that we’re down 0-2 in the series because ol fat f*** mustache must think smirking and laughing in that moment helps from his dumb podcasts and book reading. f*** you skinner.

Now here’s Connor smirking with king fans chanting skinner at him. Even the captain knows Stuart skinner is an absolute disgrace.

The got yer back guys don’t see a problem with Stu smiling and laughing

JT Miller goes over Nuge too. And I'd take Jonas Brodin over him as well. So yeah, he doesn't even make the Top 12.

At no point have I argued that he's a starter. My point here is that's he a backup. Not much difference between him and Pickard, and therefore I don't think it'll matter much who's in net.

My point here is, A, we need one, and if Stu is the backup. I'm ok with that.

and B, we don't have option so we better adjust defensively if we have any chance here.

I know the connection if anybody wants to know. I know her source.
Is it Garfield?

I've lost track of the latest speculations of the twitter rumormongers, last I heard it was Stauffer from this particular account. Staples certainly went hard to try and find out back in the day once he heard the account owner might be an attractive former model
