Post-Game Talk: Can we leave Stu in a California Closet?

This outcome was cemented when the team decided that the forecheck and speed of the young players that took them to game 7 of the cup finals wasn’t needed. They chose the unsustainable shooting% of Henrique and Janmark and the signed a few more aging forwards, as well as doubling down on Skinner. Arrogant management who thinks they know better than everyone. Also, it was apparent from the moment we got him that Henrique was cooked. As of now, he is not an NHL player on a playoff team to me. Get him , Arvidsson and Janmark off this team.

Oh I’m not kidding when I say if Skinner is our goalie next year I’m done as a fan.

Better shit to do
It would not surprise me if we never see Stuart Skinner play another game in an Oilers jersey. Neither he nor the team will recover from these first 2 games.

I hope Roger's Place is empty this Friday. If the organization isn't serious about winning, why should any of the fans be?

Took a big haircut on my seasons tickets this year because of how absurd the Oilers made the prices, making games you can't go to practically impossible to sell without taking a huge loss.

Finally get here and now I gotta either take yet another huge loss on Game 3 or drive 3 hours to go watch this dogshit.

Very glad I decided not to renew next year. Made the decision pretty much when they hired Bowman.

I'm pissed.

* Skinner clearly should not play another game. Smiling after the crowd heckles for making a save after posting a save percentage starting with 0.7x???

* Arvid with an absolutely horrific giveaway... And he was finally looking like he found a fit on the 4th line with a great tip

* Please break up Nurse and Bouchard - it doesn't work. Bouchard needs a babysitter and Nurse can't do it. Play Kulak with Bouchard and Nurse with Wahlman to more evenly distribute the minutes

* Klinberg our best D man tonight and it wasn't even close

* Frederic can't skate... I would put J Skinner in for him

* Where is Nuge and Hyman?

* Kane had a couple of big hits but perhaps I had an unrealistic expectation of him to change the game.

f*** me. This sucks.
Plus that giveaway put La back up by two.

That just can’t happen

Can these be the lines please?
The oilers lines were unbalanced and unproductive.

Skinner mcdavid Brown
Podkolzin Draisaitl Hyman
Kane Nuge Arvidson
Perry Henrique Jones

Nurse Klingberg
Walman Emberson
Kulak Bouchard

Picard
Rodrigue

Good choice. Show your disgust with your wallet!!!

Could you really imagine any thing else with John Klingberg in the line up and Skinner in goal......
Look at the season stats with both in the line up....
Just saying...

I thought Klingberg did ok, all things considered, but I've NEVER liked Skinner as a goalie ever since he played his first game against the Sens. I didn't watch a ton last year because I was convinced that skinner would cost them in the playoffs, and they managed anyways.

Good luck with that. Most of those guys will cost assets to move and/or have a NMC and won't waive because they're turds.
Oh I know. A good GM would find a way to do it, but all we have are Holland's that think that you can't squeeze GM's

Good thread title @Cloned

Not much else good about this one.

Unfortunately I knew the Oilers were gassed after two periods. Or should I say our only two forwards were.

f*** management for this fiasco. We have 10 forwards that are just there. With apology to Janmark who's really again givng it his all.

Connor McDavid fist pumping Pickard at end of game on bench. You know we've seen the last of Stewed Skinner for awhile. I guess it took two shit games of the fool waving at pucks to have this happen.

Skinner never should have started this game according to almost anybody.

I’m sorry what? Jones? Jones is maybe the orgs 16th best forward.

Absolutely inexplicable as to why they wouldn't have started Pickard.

Pickard was well rested and had a successful season. What's more, the team seemed to have confidence in him and it showed every time he played.

I was 95% sure they would start Pickard and eke out a 1 goal win with the knowledge that someone could make the odd big save. Now you see why I avoid the gambling tables. Logic doesn't always prevail.

You almost think these blockheads have a death wish or something. I know Bowman has been busy with subpoenas but he could have intervened here and simply said "use some common sense--do something here to help yourself" but it didn't happen.

Well, its certainly not over but its looking like next-year's-ville for the lads.

-Horrid goaltending+ poor defense+ guys who are 1 year too old=pipeline burst and major leakage.

We’re down 2 games to none
We were down 3 games to none vs Florida and came back to take it to game 7
But I honestly hope we get swept this year
Changes need to be made and if getting swept this year doesn’t change things nothing will
We have the 2 best players in the the game today and we need to score 5 or more goals on most nights to win is is unacceptable

You guys keep talking about making it to Game 7 like it's the same as winning the Stanley Cup. It's not. We lost. And we lost because of a weak shot that Stuart Skinner should have stopped and didn't because he wasn't, isn't, and will never be: good enough.

It's that same mentality that gave this management group and this idiot coach the false confidence to ruin this f***ing roster.

No intelligent person, period, watched last year's Stanley Cup playoffs and believed Stuart Skinner was anything but a massive risk game in and game out. He had one great series and three rounds of Russian Roulette. And he lost us a series almost on his own the year before.

Yes, the defense was laughable, the powerplay was anemic, the coach is totally inept and should've been fired in March, despite the overwhelming majority of this board still sniffing his Game 7 fart fumes until very recently, but what's the one constant in each of these last three postseasons? Stuart Skinner being a SIEVE.

And lost 6-0 - the. Said the “game was too fast”
🤣 I forgot about that, what a donkey.
f*** I paid for tickets for game 4. Imma watch this sweep get completed live aren’t I.
Well, if you’re near the suites you can scream at Mutt & Jeff so it’s not all bad.
"We Want Skinner" chant was awesome from LA fans, not going to lie.

This org deserves 100% to be embarrassed for that.
I hope Katz saw that, like the time Roenick wore a paper bag and embarrassed him into firing Chiarelli.
Oh I’m not kidding when I say if Skinner is our goalie next year I’m done as a fan.

It’s honestly easier giving up Oilers hockey than I thought it would. For starters, I hate the NHL now with its corrupt, biased reffing so I maybe watched a total of 5-8 games this season, including the ones where I’d just watch bits and pieces. I didn’t watch much of game 1, didn’t watch any of game 2 because when I saw Skinner was starting, I already knew it was going to be a 5+ against night.

If there aren't major changes after they get swept this offseason, including Jackson getting fired, Schwartz fired, Bowman should be fired but he’ll just be given both roles, Knoblauch fired and Skinner, RNH, Bouchard all traded, it’ll be easy to lower that from 5-8 games to 0.

I’d also say right now with the current state of the team, the chances of McDavid extending are less than 40% right now. He wants a cup. He wants one bad and that’s not happening with the current structure of the org and roster.
