Is there any chance that Ovi can age as good as legendary wings like Teemu Selanne & Jaromir Jagr?

OV has already aged way better than both. After age 37 (OV's current age), Selanne had 1 30 goal season and 1 PPG season while Jagr had zero. I'm confident OV will do better.

Yeah, I was telling myself that he was a significantly better player past 30 than they were. I guess we'll see how it looks like past 40 as Selanne and Jagr remained pretty good into their early 40's.Glad you posted this because I was thinking, surely he has to be on track to be the best-aging player ever. I think people really have not yet grasped just how superhuman his 30s have been.

It'll be very interesting how he stacks up to Howe, Lidstrom, Bourque when all is said and done. I think they're at the top with regards to top end seasons throughout their late 30s to 40 (and a bit beyond). All three have First Team honors at 40+. I'm sure I'm missing someone, but they're not coming to mind...Glad you posted this because I was thinking, surely he has to be on track to be the best-aging player ever. Generally people have not grasped how great Ovechkin and Crosby are/were.Glad you posted this because I was thinking, surely he has to be on track to be the best-aging player ever. I think people really have not yet grasped just how superhuman his 30s have been.
This is almost certainly true, and he has pretty much said this more than a few times I believe. But if it does play out like that and he's still performing on the ice the way he has been lately I'll forever wonder what if he tried to chase 1000 career goals. I honestly think if he wants to play in the NHL long enough he would get 1000, even if he had to play to 45 or something like that, but I think it's in realistic reach if he wants to go for it.No, but it won't have anything to do with Ovechkin's work ethic.
Both Selanne and Jagr benefitted immensely from the time off in the 2005 lockout. Ovechkin doesn't have a comparable.
Jagr rejuvenated himself in the KHL. That simply isn't a political option for Ovechkin now.
Both missed far more time than Ovechkin at the same age so had less normal wear and tear.
Selanne benefited post lockout by playing on a strong team where he wasn't expected to be the number one guy. He got the powerplay time without the hard minutes. Ovechkin is still the Caps number one player so he won't get the easy minutes of a Selanne 2009.
Jagr post KHL bounced around teams. He usually got sheltered minutes and powerplay time.
Ovechkin is really in the 1% of the 1% in terms of elite players who haven't missed time for injuries. He will likely play well into his early 40s, but I think he calls it an NHL career at the end of the season he breaks the goal record.

yep another reason I don't see any chance he goes for 1000, I really wish he would. That would be one of the greatest all time sports records if he hit 1000 career goals. Just breaking Gretzky's record is incredibly impressive but 1000 man that would be crazy. He's also said he wants to play in the KHL for a few years after he's done in the NHL ala Datsyuk.
It's entirely possible. It would be amazing to see Ovi potting 30+ goals a year into his forties. It's not just about dedication, though; guys like Selanne and (especially) Jagr are absolute genetic freaks. Ovi hasn't slowed down much to this point, but remaining effective for as long as Jagr did is a tall order.
