If only we had a similar quality bottom 6 C who was traded like 2 weeks ago to base a value off of,

Hoping for 3x3.

I don't think you get equal value for Evans compared to what a known, capable, player brings to the continuity of the club.
3 yrs at the most. Beck and Hage will soon be knocking at that door.

Devils 3rd round pick with some condition for it to turn into a 2nd round pick on it like if the Devils get to the conference finals and Evans plays ____ playoff games.
Pass

The Habs need vet centers so Id keep him but if they insist on dealing him and giving Beck that job next year then Id want a 2nd + a conditional 3rd (based on playoff performance) at the minimum.

I'd say they eat 50% of the contract and it's NJDs 2nd round pick that voids the allen conditions. And if possible I'd ask for an AHL guy to help out utica as a sweetener

Eg, no matter what happens, MTL recieves NJDs 2nd and 3rd from the 2 trades

Have any habs fans considered the possibility that Jake Evans may choose to leave as a UFA if a better team offers him a contract

Hage projects higher IMO.

Beck certainly, but having that vet that can move between lines 3 and 4 is important. Gotta have someone with experience.
Either way all i'm saying is both these players should be soon coming. Beck i see as soon as next season and Hage ? How lucky did we actually get with that pick? Fingers crossed.

I think Hage plays another year at UM. Then a year at Laval. Beck very likely in Montreal next year, if not sooner. Kapanen is waiting in the wings too, but I'd like to see him play a year in Laval.

I think an Evans 3-year deal is all but expired before he'd be replaced by Beck and Kapanen. Hage and Evans don't really impact one another imo.

Hage looks great right now. Rookie leading a perennial program in scoring. I'm hoping he can slide into the 2c role.

Things I don't trust for 400 please alex

Regardless he is still a quality bottom 6 forward, but he was that last year too.

If a GM buys on the high shooting % luck, they'll be foolish, but I wouldn't put it past some GMs, and they'll still get a good player regardless. Not worth a 1st, but still effective

Evan's is having a really good year and has been on a heater recently, so I would guess his DL price depends on if he can keep up his current pace.

Historically Evan's a solid 3/4 line centre, has some speed and offence to him, and is reliable in a defense-first role. He'd be a great pick-up for a contender, however, the Habs don't really need more late 2nd/ 3rd round picks, so I think they would be looking at a prospect, likely a RHD or maybe a C. Of course, if a 1st round pick is offered, he's as good as gone.

If you want to value him highly in a trade you should value him accordingly financially.

But that doesn't translate to the same kind of salary for two different kind of players.

Defensive players usually don't get anywhere near the same kind of money as offensive players of similar talent.

Evans is a 3C that is great on the dot, defensively and on the PK that can contribute a bit offensively.

Monahan is a 2C that produces offensively and on the PP while being good on the dot and decent defensively.

There's also the injury angle to consider with Monahan, which caused him to re-sign with Montreal because he got injured before TDL in 2022-2023.

Evans is the kind of player teams love to add to their bottom 6 and doesn't have a big injury history. Does he get a 1st? Not necessarily, but we have seen similar player get it in the past.
