Why are you so adamant to praise Kyle Dubas?
There is no praise for dubas.

he set a benchmark for the bottom 6 C market.

It is what it is now.

That trade will be referenced in every single negotation for a bottom 6 center from today until the deadline

Read my post again, I explained the reason.
Yeah i read it.

You didn't like the price Eller got so you have concocted a reason to lie to yourself and convince yourself it isn't going to be the benchmark for bottom 6 C trades this year.

Adding pretend years onto rentals is something fans of sellers do to tell themselves their rentals aren't rentals.

If it was the other way and someone tried to sell MTL a player who was 1 year away from UFA by chalking an extension, you would laugh in their face rightfully
Nope.

... Meanwhile, you've been gaslighting yourself into accepting that Kyle Dubas did a genius move, and that's with a optimistic assessement of your own logical capacities.

If that helps you sleep at night. Here is Dubas himself saying what I said:
“It signals that with Blake Lizotte returning from injury and having depth options at center with Cody Glass, Noel Acciari, and Sam Poulin on the roster plus younger centers progressing in our system that we wanted the minutes for those players,” Dubas wrote, as shared by TribLive. “It give them greater opportunity plus increase our assets and cap space to give us greater flexibility.”

Yeah that's not what you said at all.

"... Meanwhile, you've been gaslighting yourself into accepting that Kyle Dubas did a genius move"

What are you talking about.

He set a benchmark with he first trade of the season.

Nobody in here has described it as a genius move.

It is simply a move, that will now be used as a benchmark and reference point in all negotiations going forward

How is this different than "shake things up"?
What part of it says anything about "shaking things up".

"we want to get younger and we like our depth" is also something that tends to be a sugarcoated way of saying "we're gonna be sellers this season"

It's also very similar to this quote from kent hughes. I guess teams should just wait a bit because clearly kent also wants to open up opportunities for young guys.

All of it? What about giving opportunities to other players and gathering assets and cap flexibility for other moves is NOT "shaking things up"?

We're clearly not living in the same world. Happy holidays!

By that logic any single move is for the purposes of "shaking things up". If trading players to gather assets is "shaking things up" then Jake Evans if traded, will also be traded to "shake things up"

No, trading players at TDL is not shaking things up, it's selling as you're not headed to the playoffs.

Dubas was still trying for the playoffs.

Your inability to process intent is impressive.

I'll try to convey my intent again. Happy holidays!

Keep jumping through hoops to convince yourself that this trade is somehow invalid.

Didn't MTL fans justify the Jake Allen deadine trade as trying to "open up space for younger guys".

It was making space for Primeau and getting assets in a lost season for a goalie they weren't going to keep.

You just keep showing me you have yet to understand the intent of a single NHL trade.

Got it, and when Evans is traded the justification will be making room for Owen Beck (like it already is in the minds of a number of habs fans).

Speaking of allen, I remember getting a lot of pushback for these same reasons when I suggested DeSmith as a price comp for Allen 50% retained. Guess who was right

Late 2nd and Holmberg.

Meh.

Late 1st vs 2nd + B prospect... Maybe Danford fits the bill, future #5-6 RD could be needed.
Evans would be a great fit but unless the deal gets expanded to add someone like Savard for a 2026 1st + danford I don't see it happening.

2nd + holmberg for Evans from Toronto, maybe a late round pick as well.

Holmberg has zero value for the Habs. Would basically be a warm body for Evans and let go this summer.

We'll probably play guys like Gignac/Condotta to replace Evans if traded. Or maybe if a team wants to dump an expiring cap on us for additional assets.

The value is in the 2nd and late round pick. I don't see a team trading a 1st for Evans. Could be very wrong but as of now I don't see it.

A late round pick is more valuable than Holmberg to the Habs. As I said, Holmberg is basically zero value unless he can be immediately flipped (and I doubt there would be much interest).

It absolutely won't be the benchmark, wtf are you on about lmao.
It will 100% be a bench mark that comes up in every single negotiation for every single bottom 6 C that is brought up int trade discussions this season
