Rumor: Cam Robinson - Tuch Availability

The time to trade Tuch was in the offseason for a player like Sergachev

Adams whiffed on this asset. No deals will be good enough this deadline and his value over the summer will be significantly less than it was last.
At this point, if the deals now aren't good enough, what are the better alternatives going forward?

The solution to the Sabres woes will not be at trade deadline
They are going to need to make a splash with some ufa as well as a trade with some futures

It’s gonna be the offseason. Not futures

Right.

And they can trade futures in the off-season. As well as roster players.

Why is this so hard to get for some? Trade chips come in all shapes and sizes.

So 1/3 of the return you got for Sergachev last off-season is worth two Tuchs?
Theoretically no. But yes in application. Sergachev is a hell of a player. Wish him nothing but the best. It's not like he can't defend. He was always great in the playoffs. But the guy simply chooses to not let go of the stupid ass razzle dazzle he does every shift and the countless mistakes that come with it. Moser is like watching paint dry and it is exactly what we needed from Sergachev all the time. All said, Moser is probably our biggest get since trading Bishop for Cernak. That is worth more than Tuch could ever be.

I admire the Sabre fans sticking to their guns

It’s simpler than that. We have no shortage of scoring, Tuch is somewhat of a luxury and not needed. Moser however is essential to our defense going forward, cheap, and is the heir to Hedman/McDonagh while Tuch is a year away from UFA. Here I am being a homer though.

People need to realize that a MAJOR problem for the Sabres right now is that they have an insane glut of prospects to the point there is no room in Rochester. What is remarkable about the coaching job Leone has done is that Rochester is stuffed with kids to a degree you usually don't see for a successful AHL team (usually you have more vets as glue guys). Getting more prospects just adds to a glut that no other team has interest in because if they did more guys that Savoie would've been dealt.

What y’all don’t realize is that the Sabres puppet GM does not have the authority to trade Tuch. Whether it’s because Terry specifically forbade it or if it’s because Adams is a lame duck, you can feel free to completely forget the idea of getting Tuch before the offseason.

Can't wait for Tuch to get moved and we have to hear how he's magically better after getting out of Buffalo and we're suckers for ever getting rid of him. Even though Tuch has been excellent pretty much his entire time here.

Pittsburgh could work as a 3rd team with Rakell involved, mitigating the loss of Tuch. Something like Rakell, Perbix and a decent pick or prospect.

If Rakell were willing to go to Buffalo, I figure that would just be something Pittsburgh and Buffalo would do. Friedman has said multiple times that the Penguins really like some of their young AHL forwards, I think Rosen sticks out as an obvious guy they like.

I know Tampa fans have said Moser is off the table, but if Moser is a RD that plays a steady shutdown game, he's essentially the only piece Buffalo would be asking for.

Yes, he was undervalued. He's not much below Sergachev. That trade is the reason why we are better this year.
Canucks board was pretty unanimous when that trade was made how well TB did. We loved Moser & I was pretty meh on Sergachev after he stagnated.

The whole 1/3 thing is a bad way to frame it. Moser is really good.

Moser is a lefty that TB just traded for and is very high on, yes he can play the right side effectively but Buffalo has a couple players like that too. I think they are more in the market for a true RHD.

This is more in the sense of TB hopping in on that action to land Tuch. Pittsburgh is probably more willing than Buffalo to accept futures, so I could see it working if the goal is for Buffalo to not get worse. After all, Rakell is outproducing Tuch this season and his contract might actually age pretty well with the cap situation. Tuch on the other hand could be looking at 7-8 mil by next summer, and there's a risk he doesn't remain with Buffalo.

I think it's possible but I just don't know that Tampa can make a particularly enticing package to get what Buffalo would want. I think they could satisfy what the Penguins want, Geekie as the primary piece for Rakell would definitely go a long way in the conversation. But I'm really not sure what Tampa has to add on top of Rakell that would be enticing for Buffalo.

If Tampa is going that route, I think it would be a lot easier to just trade for Rakell and keep Rakell. Geekie and their later 2025 2nd for Rakell almost definitely gets it done (I wouldn't be surprised if that was a hard no from Tampa to trade Geekie for Rakell), but I'm not sure what would work for Rakell+ for Tuch.

It wouldn't work. We are not looking to trade Tuch... the only reason to trade him would be for obtaining pieces that are a weakness on team...mainly top 6 center or top 4 RD ... No reason to trade him for another winger.
