The TDL is less than a week away, it may not be super informative, but I think it is news that Tampa is still trying to acquire him and that Buffalo hasn’t said no.
If they had said yes he’d be on the Lightning.

This is the biggest waste of time. It’s just pages of people explaining to you why this is nothing like you’ve never heard of clickbait before. Worse…they consistently provide examples of ACTUAL THINGS SAID BY THE SABRES that render this that utter waste of time.

They obviously have said No ... otherwise a trade would have taken place

So this is like the movie where the hero walks into a bar. He asks the bartender "How much for a drink" they answer "Normally $4. For you it's $20" and just to be a dick they hike it to $40 when asked "what gives"

If this is the angle then that is probably the worst possible way to do business considering probably 2/3 of the league has Buffalo on their NMC's and NTC's

It’s absolutely nothing like that, but whatever helps you picture yourself a “hero” after arguing with a bartender I guess. Let’s be clear on just how thin the projection is here, and how odd your storyline. The analogy itself makes no sense, but there are bigger worries here.

A man walks into a bar and says to the bartender “I heard you make a drink everyone is after”

The bartender says “I do…but I can only make one…and if I were to make it the cost would be ripe ingredients needed for another quality drink to take its place”

The man cries that he should be given the drink for some unripe berries and lottery tickets.

The bartender says…”I’m not even trying to sell the drink. I own the rights to it for over a year still”

The man throws a hissy fit and opens his laptop to post on hfboards

This must be your first trade deadline. Just because a trade hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean teams aren't sitting on an offer and waiting to see if someone will beat it before 3pm March 7th.

What I wonder about that though is that Tuch's salary is still only $4.75m, not bad, and the Sabres still have to get to the cap floor. Who are they spending money on to get to the cap floor next year?

So you are commenting in a thread you have done some search on.

They are in low 60s at 8/4/1 and 4 of the 10 slots to fill are RFAs in byram, quinn, peterka, mcleod

The difference seems to be that Columbus is happy to pay to keep their veterans and Buffalo isn't. We've been infinitely lucky to have our ownership in Columbus.
False.

How do we know Tampa contacted buffalo multiple times as you imply?

People are calling the Sabres because they are one of a handful of teams not in contention for a playoff spot near the deadline and are thus absolutely going to be sellers.
Are they though?

They’re sending out emails about staying the course, publicly discuss trying to resign two of their three pending UFAs, and have repeatedly stated they are only interested in hockey trades.

They’re selling Jokiharju who they scratch a lot anyway.

They may be forced to sell Zucker and or Greenway if they tell them they refuse to sign…outside of that…they don’t want to have to call up guys and disrupt the Amerks season when they’re in first place.

Which…they also put in the goddamned email

Now you may say…they’re in last place…of course they have to sell at the deadline.

Here’s where I remind you that treating the Buffalo Sabres with the logic of a pro sports team is a misguided effort. They have an unqualified puppet as GM and a grifter owner who only hired that GM because he needed someone to agree to gut the hockey department 9 years into a playoff drought.

buffalo has not made a trade since july. they are showing no signs of being anxious about their on ice product or being motivated buyers or sellers.

So to recap:

An insider threw something at a wall, presumably to drive traffic to their social media and nothing came of it.

A rando repeats the same message the week of the trade deadline, presumably to drive traffic to their social media.

This rumor is dissected and the consensus is:
- Tampa wants Tuch
- Buffalo doesn't have an interest in moving him but would listen on a trade that Tampa won't offer
- Buffalo doesn't want futures
- Tampa wouldn't currently part ways with what it would take
- Buffalo doesn't need to move Tuch at the deadline (or at all) when the draft would yield more suitors.

Seems like the last thread...

Ya, I can’t even math out a possibility- like Tuch leaving, Perbix to Buffalo, all of TB’s picks and prospects to.. Utah, who sends Schmaltz to Buffalo and somethin small to TB?

Just a rough idea of how it might make sense if TB sends a more minor roster player, but as I type it out- feels complicated, would be easier to keep Tuch happy and trade some picks for a guy. We’ll draft high again, hooray, maybe just find a partner who wants your first rounder.
Adams trading for Schmaltz , who is making 8.5M next season might be one of the few moves out there that could convince Pegula's frugal ass to fire Adams. :biglaugh:
