The Sabres have among the best positions of all sellers and maybe of all teams as far as this deadline.

My predictions are around them and I think any deal they make they win.

Obviously interesting to see the aftermath in 7 days and consider what they choose to do.

If I was interested in the opinion of thirsty non-Sabres fans about an organization they don't care about, I'd have asked for it.

Tuch reminds me a hell of a lot of when we kept telling people over here that Jenner wasn't for sale despite lots of folks calling again and again, and nonetheless there were tons and tons of thirsty third-party "expert fans" insisting over and over that we were wrong, we didn't know what we were talking about, he was totally for sale and he would totally be moved. Yet he's still a Blue Jacket to this day.

So I'd prefer to hear from people who are actually close to the team. Because if their management really has decided he's available, sure, the Jackets would be interested. But given past experience with these kinds of situations in general and with Tuch rumors in particular, I severely doubt he's genuinely available.
So....Jack Roslovic then?

"They prefer to keep him, unless a team is willing to overpay."

Guess that means you'd best get to overpaying. Buffalo's already evidently said they won't do futures, so you're going to have to overpay with roster assets somehow. Good luck!

Cool, and maybe GM's can change their minds or a third team could be involved.

I'm saying that unless you can point out good examples of teams that could and/or would plausibly serve as such a third party, in a manner such that they and Buffalo wouldn't be better off cutting Tampa Bay out of the deal entirely, all you're offering is empty thirsty words of "WAHHHH BUT I WANT IT".

I don't need to report to you about a third team, I'm relaying to the board what NHL insiders are reporting on. The asshat attitude isn't deserved or appreciated. I haven't even suggested that the Lightning should trade for him.

It doesn't make sense for the Sabres to sign Tuch to a 7 or 8 year extension that will kick in when he's 30. His 36 goal season was an obvious fluke that will never be repeated. Might as well cash in now when teams will overpay for the extra cheap year.
Maybe 36 is his career high.....but he's on pace for 31 this year. I can absolutely see Tuch hitting 30 a couple of more times before age comes calling for him.

Given that this debate has evidently happened several times before, judging by some of the responses I'm seeing here, I imagine the constant reiteration of known substance-free clickbait is also undeserved and unappreciated. I sure didn't care for it when it was my team's guy.

I for one don't appreciate being taken in by substance-free clickbait on a player that I'd love to see in union blue.

Irrelevant.. Tuchs "availability" is the same as any other player that isn't a franchise cornerstone.

If you want to make offers go ahead .. if not I don't see point of the thread.

Just because a player is available doesn't mean they are sought after in a trade and that GM's are actively trying to trade for them, this should be common sense.

Ok.. I guess we just sit here and wait for this mystery 3rd team to come in and save the day for Tampa ... since Tampa was specifically mentioned in this tweet

NHL insiders reporting on active interest on NHL players aren't substance-free clickbait, get real. If you don't like that someone on your team is involved in NHL rumors, you can bury your head in the sand. No one should feel insulted that it's being reported that a player off your team could be available, no insulting trade propositions were brought up, no one insulted the player or the team. Grow some thicker skin

Or we don't and take the tweet for what it is and move on. Last I checked this was a "Trade Rumors" board, not an offer a trade for your teams player board.

What makes it substance-free clickbait is we've all known for a very long time that folks have been calling after Tuch for years. So there's no new information there at all. It'd only be new information if the Sabres had changed their minds about the conditions under which they'd deal him. They haven't. You - and they - aren't "reporting" a damn thing. "The sky is still blue. News at 11."

Two NHL insiders tweeting within the last two hours increased interest in Tuch, and naming specific teams, isn't worthy of being posted in the "Trade Rumors and Discussion" board because "we've all known for a very long time".

You really need to re-evaluate what your arguing about here.

If "My team got mentioned" is the new standard of what constitutes news, I promise this whole board will know much more about the Blue Jackets and Preds in short order. I just got DOGEd, I've got the free time. ;)

Everyone acts like three team trades don't happen. Unlike a lot of the crap we see posted on the trade forums, this is a scenario that would actually make sense to get a third team involved.
Good idea in theory, but Buffalo really needs a legitimate top 6 center with term coming back if they are moving Tuch.

So ask yourself, "who in the league has a top six pivot with term that would accept a trade to buffalo and who's GM would move him for the future we want to give up for Tuch?"

Now you start to see why the idea of. "Just add a third team" may be easier said than done.

If an NHL insider mentioned it, and it was posted here, I'd take it seriously and not be upset about it.

Sorry about you being laid off.

I don't imagine it would be easy to do, thus why I'm simply bringing it up and not taking the bait of discussing which teams that could work with. Way too complex, and I'm not here to negotiate a trade.

95% of NHL players aren't being actively sought after in a trade bubba

And every team requires an “overpayment.”

GMs are such cowards these days.

“My team is really full of awesome talented players leading the way to multiple years of bottom 10 finishes, hence they all require overpayments because they’re so valuable.”

How about, you know, try to make a fair deal? That could possibly improve your team?

This is especially rich from the Sabres organization.

Just relax with this poster, he told me that Conor Geekie is a year away from probably being as good as Tuch so yea…. Lots of stretching with the fella

I don't think they're claiming that of all Sabres players. Just that Tuch happens to be particularly valuable to the team in that regard. Which makes sense - there's a phase in between "gather as many futures as possible" rebuilds and "playoff competitiveness" that involves growing those futures that you've got, and in the interim you need a good selection of skilled vets - "skilled" as in "not throwaway fourth-liners nearing retirement" but actually the same sorts of folks that playoff teams want at the deadline - to insulate those kids, help them grow, and help them to learn How To Play The Right Way. Some of those guys you can sell off for futures, but there's a point of diminishing returns. And some players are just exceptionally helpful at that skill and so you don't want to give them up at all. I have no problem seeing Tuch fitting into that latter category.

I think TB would unload the cupboard, honestly. Mostly because that's exactly the type of contract we target. The problem will come up if and when Buffalo asks for roster players. It's tough for us to meet that demand without creating another roster hole.

But I do think every prospect and pick is on the table. And it wouldn't shock me to see a Tanner Jeannot type offer with better prospects.

You're a liar, this is what you said, anyone is more than welcome to follow the thread and decide for themselves. Should be a quick conclusion

Buffalo will happily take Geekie. He should be in the nhl next year so there's your roster player. Unless they need a roster player this year for their playoff push

Make a hockey trade sabres fans say as they’re the worst team in the Confrence AGAIN. 😂😂😂😂. Wake up teams who actually are competing aren’t trading player for player. Yall can keep him and finish last again? Or lose him for nothing when he doesn’t resign so.. temper the asks

We have a whole year to worry about that... so until that time comes... the ask will reflect that.

Thanks for your input.
