Rumor: Cam Robinson " I spoke to GM's on what the price is for Boeser" .... 1st round pick and legit prospect is the cost

This could make sense. Don't think VAN would add anymore though.

Columbus also needs a goalie... wouldn't this be crazy?

To Columbus:
Demko (potential starting goalie to increase their ceiling - won't do anything with Tarasov/Merz)
Boeser (a top goalscoring RW - have plenty of cap to re-sign)

To Vancouver
Rakell (replaces Boeser at a fraction of the cap hit - cost controlled which is good)
Jarry (half retained - will still be a negative value asset but will be a backup to Lankinen as Silov isn't responsible)
Sillinger (someone who probably needs a fresh start - been playing better lately but is a young controllable forward that could use more opportunity... Columbus has abundance of these middle six guys, needs more high-end talent)

To Pittsburgh
CBJ 1st round pick
CBJ 3rd round pick

Columbus gets a high end goal scorer that they can easily re-sign - also gets a potential Vezina bounce back candidate to address their atrocious goaltending.

Pittsburgh gets a first (+middling picks/prospects) and gets rid of Jarry at half retained for Rakell - pretty good work for a rebuilding team.

Canucks move on from the old guard and get Rakell who's cost controlled and can still contribute to their playoff chase. Jarry at half retained to be a backup goalie is fine as he's definitely a better option than Silovs. Sillinger is a young middle six guy that can play center with some upside to break out and is still cheap next year.
What the heck does Pittsburgh get so much for, this is a huge overpay to them.

I would be happy with a CBJ first lottery protected, Cole Sillinger, and a small piece either a late pick or a c tier prospect or a depth guy.

One dimensional, 25-30 goal scorer with health problems who will want a big deal. No thanks.

He could have been had for free a couple of years ago. The ask is way too high and what it’ll take for him not to be a rental is the icing on the cake

Regarding Boeser's defensive game, he's mentally a very smart defensive player, but whether those smarts actually translate into being good defensively depends entirely on whether he happens to be skating hard/fast enough in any given year for it to matter.

Also, he's a complementary player in every way. If you have a dominant 1st line center, he's useful. If you don't, he's not. He's never going to be the play-driver on a line.

Because Rakell has 29 goals and 53 points in 63 games this year.

Again, you wouldn’t even get Sillinger straight up for Boeser. Why would Columbus trade a 21 year old center with 29 points in 54 games this year for a rental winger with 37 points in 54 games this year? And that’s not even touching on them adding a 1st on top of Sillinger.

Columbus probably wouldn’t trade for him without an extension but if they get one worked out then a 1 for 1 trade would probably be fair. But you’re right in that there’s definitely no first round picks involved

I think Sillinger for Boeser with an extension would be worth talking about. I definitely see the appeal for Vancouver to get a young top-9 center and he is a bit redundant in Columbus with Monahan, Fantilli and Jenner as capable top-9 centers going forward.

But for a rental, no chance. I think Boeser as a rental would get something back like Luca Del Bel Belluz and one of Columbus' 1st rounders from Columbus, which is still a good return for Vancouver IMO but you'd obviously rather do Boeser with an extension for Sillinger.

They are also dumping a bad contract

I don't think dumping Jarry with 50% retained is all that much of a positive or negative. If it was dumping his full contract, I'd agree but I don't know that dumping Jarry at 3 years and $2.6 million is much of a positive for them.
It’s a negative. You can’t bury him in the minors at that price and he is clearly a back up at this point. Even at 50% he deninishes value.

You can view it as a negative but dumping Jarry's deal at 50% doesn't really add anything of value to the Penguins. The $2.6 million saved doesn't do much for them and they're eating up one of their retention slots for the next 3 years.

Jarry should just be taken out of that proposal because the Penguins wouldn't view him as a negative asset at 50%.
