Calm down, Oilers fans

I would argue that we don't really have a "position of strength." More of a rob Peter to pay Paul type of situation.

I think Hamonic is a good defenseman, but he's not a game changer. Eberle, when he's on, is a game changer.

And say we do trade Eberle; who's our first line right wing? Yakupov? Purcell? No thanks.

There probably isn't a team in the league with more top end offensive talent then us. You're trying to downplay it to make your point but it doesn't work.

Trade from a position of strength for a position of weakness? Yup,makes sense. Obviously no to Hall or RNH but I would not be disappointed at all if I seen eberle go for hamonic.

I think oil fans are sick and tired of the same old broken record playing. Like the poster said above, horrid start to the season, competition is softer, team plays well in meaningless games, optimism rises, draft in the top 5,completely wipe out the bottom 6,sign a guy or two, horrible start to the season, play well in meaningless games...........

Telling people who have had to suffer through 10 years of atrocious hockey and piss poor management to calm down is pretty much rubbing salt in the wound

well, and hasn't doing the exact same thing every single summer proven it might be time to try a different approach?

I can't, for the life of me, understand how anyone can still believe in this core group. THEY CAN'T BEAT ANYONE!!!! the amount of evidence that this group can't win is long past mounting.

there has never been more reason for a shake up in the history of this league.

The Oilers are pretty much a middle of the pack offensive team this season with minimal contribution from Eberle and with McDavid out for a long stretch. The need for a top pairing RHD is much greater than a need for a flashy offensive player. They also save $2M cap space for the next 4 years and can find an offensive top 6 RW if need be with the extra cap space.

Give me an example of a Dman that you think would be a better return for a player like Eberle than a 25 year old #2 Dman signed at $4M for the next 4 years.

this is the big lie. Hall , now Drai, and McD when he gets back. that's it. Ebs is ok, i guess. that's it. no one else is any where near top end talent.

Hall, Drai, RNH, Eberle and Mcdavid are all first line players. The fact you have Drai as one and not RNH/Eberle is mindblowing and just recency bias.

Going into this year I believe I had realistic expectations 35-36-11 give or take. With this much talent of fwd and quality coaching and the team "visually" better its hard to remain calm at this point. After last game I have avoided sports radio and forums till right now. This team needs to start winning or for the first time in my life I will need to take a extended break from the NHL!

sorry. Ebs is Alex tanguay-lite. RNH is Jordon Stahl-lite. not highend talent. If they were, they'd actually win us a game more than once in a blue moon, when they get a couple flukie goals in one game.

how you can think they are is mindblowing. watch the games. without Hall they can't get anything done.

Other way around, amigo, and it's not even close. Staal has broken 50 points once, with exactly 50. RNH has done it three times by the age of 22.

For all the *****ing and moaning around here about RNH, you'd think he's having himself just a trash season.

21-6-10-16, -1 extrapolates to:

81-23-39-62, -4

Oh, the humanity. Won't someone take this Belanger triangle off our hands??

Yikes the underrating of RNH is disgusting. He is by far our best forward other than McDavid (and arguably Hall). He takes all the tough assignments, plays phenomenal defensively and is still is on pace for 60-65 points (10-15 more points than Jordan Staal has ever had in his career. Your comparison proves your a troll). Eberle has never had a ppg that would put him at 60 or below since his rookie season (also Tanguay was a first liner in all the seasons he was better than Eberle).

Anyone who has Draisaitl over them currently off 15ish fluke games with weak assignments clearly only looks at the stats sheet. (not that I don't love Drai, but it's clear his stats don't reflect his level of play. He will be better than Eberle I have no doubt and maybe RNH but not yet)

RNH and Eberle had their best stretch in years the last 35 games of last season WITHOUT Hall. Where do some of you get this stuff from?
And RNH is JORDAN Staal-lite? This is getting ridiculous.

Is Yakupov top-end talent in your mind? If the answer to that is yes, then I simply disagree.

I would say, today, the Oilers safely have two top-end forwards: Hall and Mcdavid. Eberle is a solid first line player, but not top end. Ditto Nuge. I would take many other teams' top-end talent over ours, to be fair.

Ovechkin/Backstrom; Crosby/Malkin; Kane/Toews; Benn/Seguin; the list goes on.

Didn't click on click bait, never will. Actually Chaotic Orange because he actually participates on this board.

In anycase how many threads do we need on the front page saying Calm down, Stop jumping off cliffs, Gutting the team etc.

Seems like every game theres 10 new reaction threads.

Expecting different results with the same core of guys is crazy. Every year the same story, something is not working and changes need to be made.

It's not the same core though. Nurse and McDavid are new. Management is new. Coaching is new. Goalies are new.

Even the old core is young and is still improving.

I listed the 5 first liners we have earlier, Yak was not one of them. And going forward I'd take McDavid/Hall or McDavid/RNH over Kane/Toews or Benn/Seguin without thinking twice.

Hey, I participate! I also have a life though, so I don't ALWAYS participate.

I resent the accusation.

Oiler fans have been far too calm for far too long

You probably shouldn't tell people to simmer down then. ;)

And no, we shouldn't be ****ing calm. This is ridiculous and pathetic.

No team should be this bad for this long.

The ****** part is that we need to be patient but we have no patience left.

Well yes going forward I would take McDavid + anyone, pretty much. But right now - today - all of these duos are better than ours.

Telling frustrated and angry people to calm down usually accomplishes the complete opposite.

But when considering trades it should be the future we worry about, not right now since this season is a write off.

That was repetitive and not well written. A regular forum post would have sufficed. Condescending clickbait is just more noise.
