Calle Jarnkrok

I think our team is too stacked for him to get a huge opportunity with any consistent PP time. So I doubt he'll shatter his career number here, all of a sudden. We can expect his goal total to be in the teens, and point to be 35 or so.

But the big deal is how he can be used to fill in all over the lineup. Between him and Kerfoot, there's no injury that should be too detrimental. JT now being out a bit to start will test this theory straight away. But I believe Jarnkrok or Kerf can be a #2 C for as long as we need without too big of an issue.

These versatile players are great to have.

Played right D with no hesitation.

Keep going Calle. This organization needs unsung heroes.

Great start to his limited time with TOR.

He's a middle six tweener (albeit one that's probably better suited for the third line more often) that's locked in for term at an affordable rate. Not seeing much of a reason to fret about this signing.

He has a decent one timer that would be good on one of the 2PP flanks, especially since he is RH and we don't have a ton of RH options to put there otherwise (Marner and Nylander are both on the top PP).

Also helps that he can take draws fairly well as a RH center.

Really, he sounds a lot like Spezza

Although Spezza is better at draws than him, but the man was still rocking a 52.9% win rate (55% on PP's) in the year he retired so not many were better than Spezza.

None at all, IMO.
Looks like an excellent addition.
Props to Dubas on this one.

Turning out to be a nice value signing. Versatile player who can grind but also keep up with the finesse plays and has an underrated shot. Has 11 pts in 9 games since returning from injury and was a beast last night against Philly. Would like to push him down to the third line ideally, but he's shown he's a better fit on the second line than Kerfoot ever was.

Crazy to think he’s only 8 goals and 9 assists already away from setting new career highs. Started the year off a little slow but he’s really picked it up since returning from injury.

I believe he noted that he was playing through injury for a while prior to his 2-week absence as well, which probably explains some of the slow start.

Hoping that was it. He is an excellent multitool but for me the jury is out that he can stick on one of the leafs top 2 lines. He sometimes looks like he is out of synch but I am hoping he can find and maintain his zen like Bunting did.

Honestly, he kind of reminds me of Hyman. I think Hyman was better at board work and had slightly better offensive IQ, but Jarnkrok also has a better shot and better defensive IQ.
It will be interesting to see how he continues to gel on that line.

He’s done a nice job finding his game alongside Marner and JT in a complimentary role… plus he’s solid on the draw

Basically everything they’ve been hoping about Kerfoot that hasn’t come to light yet.

If Jarnkrok continues putting up points on that 2nd line, we'll have to really question whether it makes sense to trade a 1st rounder or top prospect for a LW. I hope he keeps this up so we can shift our focus to improving the 3rd line.

Agreed. He's showing he can play there, he's shown a lot more than Kerfoot was able to do. I'd love to see Kerf get traded out for some help on that 3rd line. Tanner Jeannot from the Preds has been a want of mine for awhile. He'd really help add a physical player who can actually play.

Whoever comes in needs to be a pain in the ass to play against, I'm all in on sacrificing Kerfoot lol

Took a few weeks for the guy to find chemistry with a new team,.at least offensively speaking

Looks like a very solid addition to the roster

Well in fairness it’s been reported Dubas doesn’t want to trade his 1st or his top prospects this deadline .. so Jarnkrok’s play helps make that decision more justified

Calle is what Dubas wanted when he traded for Kerfoot.
Solid all around player who can chip in with goals when there are opportunities, can play all three fwd positions, win at the dot and PK.

Last night game pretty much showed all those qualities.
Got a goal in the slot(kind off), fore checked hard to create another(JT's goal), won a faceoff on the PK which led to a SH goal right away.

Pretty tough to get a guy with his experience for 2 mil per year that can actually be productive.

Pretty good signing.

I don't expect the Leafs trade both Kerfoot and Engval but if one goes and thwy find their top 6 LW, he will be great with Kampf and one of Kerfoot or Engval.

Maybe Knies can play 3rd line with them. A lot of pressure to jump onto the second or first line

I love This signing, I still would rather see him on the 3rd line long term I believe you need a guy on your 3rd line that is good enough to be on your 2nd if you are going to win a cup and I think Jarnkork could be that guy.

But I love this signing I can't believe he signed that contract
