Cale Makar scores 30 goals in a season, first since Mike Green

Am I the only one who thinks that 30 goals for a d-man now days isn’t all that impressive? The way scoring has gone up and bunch of d-men putting up bunch points. Rookie d-man like Hutson has 62 points in 74 games. Two more d-men other than Makar have 20 goals etc… I think the real impressive thing would be if a d-man can score 50 goals one of this days
When those other players hit 30 then you have a point, until then…

I called into Cale and told him to calm down tonight and stop showing off his big balls in Columbus. You're welcome.

They've committed to calling Quinn #2 n the world. Going to be so funny when he leaves for NJ in 2 years.
I have nothing against the Avs and normally find them easy to root for, but you are single handedly changing that. Congrats, nice job. You are representing your team like a Leafs fan.

I see your point with Huston. Any dman running a PP gets inflated points just for being out there it seems lately, but goal scoring is a different story. IE Hutson's 5 vs Makars 30 and that is 4 vs 1 in dman scoring. We can tell the dman who get a lot of apples doing very little then a couple goals going through bodies vs the snipers.

Or be more bitter coming into a thread because your team got spanked in an important game by a team missing key players who just played last night.

McDavid is good, but playing with Draisaitl puts him on another level. See how dumb that sounds?

I am not bitter because of tonight. I am bitter over the last 25 years. But with that I still see nothing wrong with what I said. This is a stupid conversation and I can't believe I got sucked into it. Later.

lol not tryng to start a thing, but funny that I took it as an insult for only calling him "good". Has a real shot to go down as the best Dman ever and well be arguing Orr or Makar for decades.
No he certainly does not have a shot to go down as the best defenseman ever are you for f***ing real or are you just trolling me?

Did this really have to be turned into a Makar/Hughes pissing contest?
Well yeah. That's how any thread with Makar goes. Opposing fans come in to argue, we'll, about something or something and then something. This was strictly about him being able to hit 30 goals.

Just remember, you willingly entered a thread with this title…

Seriously, what about Fox?!
Should pump up Werenski. He is the real #2 best dman in the league right now.

Sucks to suck. Member when you traded like 14 1sts for Duchene, won one round, and celebrated like you won the Cup even thought that trade set you back 5 years. But in all honesty, I do feel bad for the obvious offseason, so Ill stop.

Tell me why not. He has to average 47 points per season to get to 1000 points, which assuming health is a lock. That already puts him next to Chelios, Stevens, Leetch, Lidstrom. Its a longshot, but he has a realistic chance to get beyond MacInnis at 1274 if he averages 60 points which is good for 3rd all time. 80 gets him to Bourque which is a longshot, but possible with a few more of these 90-100 point seasons offsetting the obvious eventual decline in his late 30s.

If youre going off Orr, who had 6 amazing seasons when they had razor blades for skates, added a bunch of garbage teams to the original 6, and put traffic cones in net, then sure, Orr is untouchable forever and no point in even having the debate.

Back when goalies were plumbers in the summer

I guess we should write off Paul Coffey’s 48 because he played with Gretzky in the 80s too.
