You merge that a little later...just in case people are interesting in seeing him as they probably didn't see him a whole lot this year. Not that he will be available for us though....

2nd period starts soon.

Why is he not playing in one of the three top tier junior leagues?

Yea i guess we really have too many good d-men

Unlike nashville

With what we have, plus Sergachev, Mete, Juulsen, Lernout.....I feel comfortable moving forward.

At centre where we don't have much, plus nothing, which is what's waiting in the wings, I say we draft Centres and LW's

and we won't see him for 4 years. he didn't play in whl after being drafter in first round bantam draft so he is really committed to ncaa

Doesn't mean he'll play 4 years in NCAA.

Tyson Jost was the 2nd overall pick in the WHL draft. Went the BCHL route cause he was committed to North Dakota.

Spent one year there, and signed with Colorado.

Its highly unlikely a top 10 pick spends 4 years in NCAA. 1-2 is more likely.

TIL...thanks. Seems unfortunate you can't play in NCAA since you earn a small stipend in one of the top CHL leagues.

Its not the stipend that's the issue.

Its that the CHL allows players who have signed NHL Entry Level deals to still play in their league. This makes it a "semi-pro" league under NCAA rules, as it contains players who have pro contracts (and many have recieved signing bonuses).

Makar ended up picking 2 assists in a losing effort for his team. He barely left the ice and made a lot of plays on both ends with his skating alone, which is pro level already. It's hard for me to really project how he'll be at the next level though since at the end of the day he's doing it against junior A opposition. I still feel kinda iffy picking a guy out of the AJHL in the top 10 personally, I'd feel more confident if he played in the USHL or the BCHL at least, there's more precedent in these leagues.

Do you feel the same about Casey Mittelstadt? Two guys from lower level leagues going Top 10. What is the last time that happened?

How is his skating compared to a guy like Mete?

As an aside, does he have a good shot, or is it a visible weakness like Mete's?

As I said, I'd rate the AJHL a good step below the USHL as far as junior A leagues are concerned. There's not a whole lot of players that got drafted from there that ended up making it. Dany Heatley played there but he had a full season with the University of Wisconsin when he got drafted, he was a lot more proven.

Well my opinion is only based on a couple games from the junior A tournament plus tonight's game, so I'm no expert on the guy. The skating looked comparable to me, it's definitely his best attribute. His shot looked ok I'd say, nothing special but he's more of a playmaker to begin with.

Makar was an 8th round pick in the bantam draft..and it's all but guaranteed that he doesn't play 4 years in the NCAA.

Jost was the 7th pick

How did Josh McKecheny play? He had a huge playoffs and he'll be at Colgate next season so I'm hoping he turns into a decent player
