Cale Makar: Norris, Conn Smythe, Stanley Cup.

All this talk and he still has 29 points in 31 games. Reading a lot of these comments you would think he has like 10 points. When Mackinnon and company come back he will go on a huge run and be right near the top again.
Makar is playing tougher minutes with the least offensive support he's ever had. And much less help from the other pairings.

He's still tilting the ice at ES (at least it seems so from the Avs GA numbers) and putting up points.

He also looks like he's not 100%. The priority later in the season should be getting Makar Toews and EJ some rest.

So you’re saying trade him for futures while he still has value?

I agree 100% that up until 2 games ago Cale was not playing like he can. Guessing he has been working through some injuries. The past 2 games he has absolutely been flying and generating offence like only he can. If anyone bets on hockey put your $ on another Norris (barring injuries). I believe he will challenge 100 points this year. Book it.

Pretty sure Cale is discussing buying luggage to bring his parents to Denver.

We are so lucky to have a 26 year old 30 goal scoring generational defenseman on our team.

30 goals, 90+ points for Cale Makar.

Norris is a lock. The buzz for the Hart trophy should also be picking up steam. Unlike Karlsson’s 100 point season and Hughes this year, Makar has also logged heavy PK minutes.

Very impressive season, and he continues to cement himself as an all-time great defenceman.

That EK Norris was the worst defensive effort by a winner I have ever seen and it's not particularly close.

It was the perfect storm. Makar missed a quarter of the season, Hughes hadn't quite yet reached his current level and EK broke through the magical 100 point mark with his all offense approach.

Same thing happened with Josi the year before. He had 96 points.

Makar finished in Norris votes:

2nd in 2021 [Missed 10 games] Fox 1st.
1st in 2022 [Missed 5 games]
3rd in 2023 [Missed 22 games] Karlsson 1st, Fox 2nd.
3rd in 2024 [Missed 5 games] Hughes 1st, Josi 2nd.

A talent like Makar should finish his career with 4 Norris trophies (since EK has 3). This year will be #2.

Josi was still better than EK at both ends. Like EK had games where he looked like he didn't give a f*** what happened in his own end.

But yeah. Makar seems to lose the trophies to worse players that are not nearly as complete as him. The voters are way too fixed on the point race, that's not even what the award is about.

Makar also has to stay healthy. In 2021 he missed 10/54 games. Can't win with that.

In 2023 22/82, can't win with that either.

This year could become his first 82 game season.

That too is a problem. I don't think missing some games is really a big deal, but once you start missing nearly a quarter of a season it becomes hard to justify.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Many, many teams will never have a dman/center combo like that.
They really should have accomplished more than getting once past the 2nd round with this core so far. You can't possibly ask for a better center/Dman combo and they both deliver big time in the playoffs as well.

This notenoughjtcgoals guy seems pretty smart.
