Calder Watch : 2024-25 Season

Sharks have scored 30 less goals then the Habs. Almost entirely due to trading off their producing players. Sharks top 9 is outscoring the habs top 9. Members of our top six are at 33 points, which would be 8th on the sharks.
They score far fewer goals if Celebrini isn't on the team. Kid drives the offense. The Sharks are almost comically bad without him, the team is stocked 3 deep with worst-in-the-NHL level talent. Passing to Barclay Goodrow on the 3rd pairing would have resulted in disaster for Hutson. It is just not a situation where anyone is set up for success, that's why Celebrini's performance this season is so unbelievable and no one was expecting it. It takes a special player to shine at 18 years of age with this level of suckage all around.

It's an interesting narrative that celebrini has a weaker cast but it's not based on reality. Sharks forwards might actually be better than the Habs pre zetterlund trade.
It's so funny to specify forwards, especially when Canadiens fans are talking about Hutson being the entire driving force behind their team's offense. Perhaps "number one d-man Mario Ferraro" is suppressing the sharks offense a little bit?

One of the things that has made Celebrini's scoring output so impressive is that he is a great transition player but has no dmen that can make a pass, receive a pass, or in Jan Rutta's case hold on to a puck without falling for no reason.

He literally has to get the puck in the D zone and skate it into the O zone by himself. EVERY DAMN TIME HE IS ON THE ICE. Not even an exaggeration, as you know.

Hutson is basically the difference between our teams goals scored. What the Habs are is significantly better defensivelyal and in net. Sharks are just getting shit canned way too often. The Habs were just as bad as the sharks when primeau was in net.

But I'm sure next week Demidov will be the excuse with his staggering two likely regular season games.
This is certainly a take.

You can't be serious lmao
no kidding. try let sharks fans save face a little bit with the reverse team thought exercise and they hit you with
"Im not sure Hutson hits 30 assists on the sharks" (Jake Wahlman had 26 assists in 52 games this season with the sharks)
and
"Hustson would have never made the sharks"

The silver lining is they should be able to use the horrible team crutch for a long, long time.

fair. 2 guys though. And what pisses me of is what I originally said was pretty darn objective and decent.

Anyway apologies to you and whatever other decent sharks/celebrini fans out there. I’ll probably get banned/threadbanned soon

Walman had an early hot streak but was basically a 7th d-man in the 18 games he played after sitting out for an extended period with an injury, collecting a whopping 6 assists in those games. On a significantly more potent offense in Edmonton, he’s put up 7 assists in 15 games. Those 26 assists were an aberration from his norm.

Hutson probably wouldn’t have been up because Grier seemed to have very little interest in playing the kids on the blue line until injuries forced his hand. Mukhamadulin didn’t get called up until the last third of the season. Same with Cagnoni.

Going the route of personal attacks simply because people have opposing views you don’t like is certainly one way to try and win an argument.

Sharks fans know Hutson on the Sharks in place of Celebrini would have absolutely sucked. Sharks fans know how bad this team was most of this season outside of Celebrini and how badly an undersized offensive D playing on the 3rd pairing would have done. Sharks fans know what kind of opportunities he would -- and would not have -- gotten.

Habs fans can't fathom the level of suck, they think being near the bottom of the league the last few seasons gives them some kind of context. They have no idea. The Sharks fell through the bottom of the league and made f***ing history, it was in the discussion for worst team OF ALL TIME.

Nearly the entire team turned over since then and we're now relying on players that haven't even played a full season to be the offense. We are actively tanking again.
