Thorburn limped off one shift. Not sure I saw him on the bench afterward. Ellerby too for that matter - took a puck in the face and a shot off the foot on the same shift and didn't see the ice again.

I'm pretty sure Ellerby was back...

Speaking of clean slates, I think its about time Tangradi gets another shot. There is no reason for both Thorburn and Peluso to be on the team at the same time. Lets see what he can do under the new coach

Don't understand this continual need by some for Tangradi to be in the lineup, guy is an AHL calibre player, his skating sucks, he has very little offensive ability, he can't shoot the puck and when he does it is never anywhere near the net!:shakehead

Give some more guys in St. Johns a shake here already, better yet give Tangradi his shot, some playing time that he deserves in St. Johns!

PS I appreciate that Maurice can see that Tangradi is at best a 13th forward, 14th once Kane returns!

Being in attendance for Sheifele's first regular season goal at home of his career - loved it. I'll always remember that.

I was lucky enough to be in attendance for his first NHL goal. Props if you can name who assisted on it (without looking it up!!) Hint: it was a PP goal.

I was at work but was listening to the TSN 1290 call by Beyak. He absolutely lost it when Trouba won the game. Here is the game podcast, jump to 1:48:05 if you want to hear it. :)

So glad to see the Calder Twins kicking ass!

You have it backwards... as a defender Buff is a guaranteed 55-60 point player. As a forward his production in Chicago was average and even if he's improved since I doubt anyone would argue that Buff's ceiling as a forward is more than a 65 point player. A 55 point defenseman is so much more valuable than a 65 point forward. Even in the best case scenario in the "Buff as forward experiment" his trade value goes down
There was a quote on the Illegal Curve podcast along the lines of...
  • When he was a defenseman, Byfuglien had flashes of offensive brilliance, with a flashes of horrendeous defense
  • As a forward, Byfuglien has flashes of offensive brilliance, with no horrendous defense
Buff as a forward... what's not to like?

Those are the opinions of people who don't understand what they are watching. It's simple.

Don't be silly. Now that Buff's a forward, all turnovers will stop completely. It's only logical. Thank God that we turned the worst player on our team, who caused all our defensive problems into an offensive asset that never existed before.

Listening to Lee prattle on during the HNIC telecast on CBC makes me quickly forget Beyak's gaffes. Don't think Lee would sound any more excited if his clothes were on fire.:sarcasm:

Aside from Hughson I think all the CBC hockey PxP guys are medicated so they show no emotion.

Lee is that guy who has no talent but keeps hanging around and eventually people get so used to him they think he belongs. remember that guy in high school?

As someone who wanted Laviolette really badly as the next head coach, I've come to accept that Maurice was the right choice (or so it seems). We're still in the honeymoon phase, but he's got the team playing defense and offense to a better degree than Noel did. Plus he seems to have confidence in Scheifele, Trouba and O'Dell - an important factor considering most Canes fans warned us he wasn't good with young players or prospects.

Care to elaborate? BTW, playing at defense for 46 games, he was -16. As a forward for the past 4 games, he's broken even. Yes I know that some people have a hate-on for +/-. But I'm not listening to them until such time as they convince Bettman and the BOG to alter the rules to give the 2 points to the team with the best advanced stats for the night, rather than the team that scores more goals than the other team. ;)

Forwards generally need to skate a lot harder than defensemen do, and Buff's in a lot better shape this season than he has been in the last two. He's looking like a force out there.
