Congratulations Toronto Marlies! This was a fun run to keep track of. A total team that rallied behind a goaltender who came through time & time again. Offensively, they got contributions from veterans & youngsters alike. I wanna give credit to Landon Sim. When the Marlies were down 2-0 & looked dead, he stepped up scoring a big goal near the end of the period. He rallied the team & they had a 3 goal second period.
I was curious about how many guys made the NHL when the Marlies last won the Calder Cup & I counted about 10 names that made it. I get it, this team is more veteran laden, just cause you win in the AHL doesn’t mean that you are guaranteed an instant NHL impact. I still think it is a great thing for the players that do make the NHL to experience success, to play in high intensity competitive games & see what makes a winning team. It’s great for Easton Cowan, Ben Danford, AA & the others who will surprise to have been a part of this run…
Full marks to the organization from top to bottom.
