Time sure does fly - seems like yesterday he was coming up and playing for the Wild, getting yelled at by Don Cherry and Gretzky, and being a bowling ball out there on the ice. I remember when the Wild opened up the prospect camp to fans and he came to "coach" the youngsters with a big dip in.

Liked his game - clean hitter overall, especially given the frequency of hits (at least with MN). Always thought he would figure out his shot and score slightly more but oh well.

While his NHL career might be coming to a close, he will continue to do what he loves. The hitting will never stop. He’s gonna be laying the body to grannies at the grocery store, soccer moms at the bank, kids walking home from school, etc. Even pups at the dog park better keep their heads on a swivel out there. Imagine two teams where all the skaters were clones of Cal Clutterbuck. No game would be played; it would just be a hitting Royal Rumble on ice - sticks, gloves, and helmets flying all over the place, the referees would be taking hits, some of the Cal Clutterbucks would be jumping onto the benches to hit the coaches and trainers, the singer of the national anthems would get nailed to the boards and hauled off, etc. The goalies wouldn’t get hit though - Cal would never do that.

I believe he’s retiring due to injury. He didn’t play this past season either.
