Except you don't and you need to understand that. Montreal owns a conditional pick from Calgary that could be CGY 1st or FLA 1st. There's a difference. You're trying to count chickens before they hatch.
I think that's a pick that holds more value to Montreal than most others. One "issue" for Calgary is that it ties up a potential trade asset, so perhaps has slightly more value than normal for them to re-acquire full rights. Of course Calgary wouldn't be trading 1sts either, so it's definitely complicated when trying to place value.

Look at what Nashville got for Ekholm in an identical situation. Ekholm was older and can't get you the 50 points Andersson does. It's going to be easily that. I think he'll get more. There's not another defenseman who can play top pairing RHD on the market.

I think if Calgary moves him it'll be for more than I just laid out. I said it would be a good prospect and a 1st for Lindholm last year. It ended up being a good prospect, 1st, top 6 wing, bad prospect and another pick.
Andersson isn't nearly the same defensive player as Ekholm though. I do agree that he's likely going to fetch more in a trade than Ekholm.

Not really because who exactly are they trading that pick for? The improvements Calgary needs are going to come from the prospects they draft and develop and not the castaways from other teams. We don't need full rights because if things look like we could potentially have to give away that pick we could just tank the end of the season and make sure we keep it.

This is like last season when Habs fans kept insisting the only way Tij Iginla would end up on the Flames is by trading with them and Calgary needed to give up the farm to ensure that. Neither team drafted him and nobody cares anymore. Holding a gun to someone's head only works if you actually have bullets to fire and they're scared of you pulling the trigger. You don't have the leverage you think you do.

Did you edit out or just ignore the part of my post where I said that? Calgary wouldn't trade their 1st, so it complicates the value further than the conditions already do.

So does Matthews hold no value or does that just apply to Mailloux? Because that was your original statement
matthew's has kept clean for several years now so i dont it has a huge effect on his value. i could see some teams still being concerned about his behavior though. hed have more value if he behaved like sidney crosby.

And Mailloux hasn’t? It’s been 4 years, nearly 5 now.

no. especially with the wjc trial not started yet. hockey culture is going to be front page.
What are you even talking about? This is not even related to the wjc.

Matthews been 5 years. Mailloux 4 1/2 years. Matthews showed his private parts to someone who wanted no business with that. Mailloux took a picture of someone’s hair and showed it to his friends.

If anything, Matthews should be in the spotlight, not Mailloux.

he doesnt need to be in the wjc trial, his name is going to be dragged in to the media coverage when hockey culture gets a look under the microscope once the wjc trail gets headlines.

during malliouxs pre draft interviews he was given the opportunity to explain his actions. do you know what he told gms? he said the victim was just out to ruin his life. yea, that's what he went with. gms aren't going to forget that attitude

Who the hell cares? That will absolutely not affect his value. Teams were lining up to draft him inthe 2nd round. Most teams don't give a damn. The only thing that will affect his value is how well he can defend.

Not to be a jerk but don't make threads if you don't know the abbreviation. This isn't a language issue. It's Cgy

A) atrocious value for Andersson
B) I'm actually more offended you typed CAL than CGY than the ridiculous proposal
C) Calgary is an organization that prides themselves on character players, they would never take Mailloux

D) Friedman uses CAL all the time and is an idiot because of it.
