Cal: Andersson, Pospisil & 2nd('25)
Mtl: 1st(Cal/Fld), Barron, Dvorak & Pezzetta
I think Montreal does it but doubt Calgary would. Imagine they looking for LD. If we draft Schaefer might move Guhle. But want more than Andersson. Guhle way younger and more control plus be cheaper over next six years.

Flames would just flip the other three for additional picks I imagine. We can do that ourselves and keep the future picks. So drop them. Not interested in their second either. as we have two early 2nds now. Pittsburgh and ours. Imagine Flames value that pick more than us. Since we hold their first.

I would counter offer with their pick back and one of our young LD. Struble? For Andersson and Pospisil?

The counter really does nothing for Calgary

Andersson to Habs make a lot of sense for Mtl but only make sense for Calgary if they decide to rebuild, as Habs only have picks and prospects/young players to trade.

Also it would have to be a deal happening during the summer, when Habs can extend Andersson.

I would do :

Habs 2026 1st (top 3 protected)
Logan Mailloux
Alex Newhook

For Andersson extended.

Pospisil I like also and is a need for Habs but I don’t know what his value could be. Maybe Joshua Roy + 3rd?
Andersson is 28 and will be looking for both money and term on his next deal and doesn't fit the timeline of a rebuilding team like Montreal . This looks more like a trade that a contender in hope of an extended playoff run should be making .

Lol that's somehow even worse

Seriously, the conditions on that first are nowhere near this complicated such that some Habs fans are still thinking no one can understand it. Getting Florida's late first in a weak draft isn't the the massive win you think it is.

Sorry Calgary fans. That's not OK.

Disagree. Habs fans don't even think they do. It's mostly trolls at this point, I think.
i dont think it's trolls to be honest. a lot of habs fans are now realizing dvorak is a cap dump. most still overrate the other guys but they are starting to come back down to earth. mallioux's got the talent to be a star player but most habs fans are in denial that other teams either dont want him or would only take him at a steep discount.

Check out the Habs board and you'll see how we really feel about Dvorak. It's mostly been the same for years too.

Mailloux has decent upside, but he's a ways away from hitting it. He's not really good enough to be the main piece in a trade like this, but I suppose it depends on the makeup of the deal.

Mailloux is the only one with interesting value, but Xhekaj could change things and become valuable over, say the next 15 months. But right now, Barron, Xhekaj, Dvorak and Pezzetta aren't worth much more than a reclamation project...

But trolls will argue that because Habs fans consider that Barron, when acquired, was equivalent to a first rounder, then they still think that over 2 years later, or that the high end of Xhekaj's potential is a consensus valuation of his current trade value.

Off course Mailloux is not the main piece in a deal for a top pair RHD. But for the right team, he is a good complement imo.

Obviously everyone has their own opinions. I do think the majority of us have fairly real expectations and valuations. Just like any fanbase, there's some outliers. Then there's outright trolls who aren't even fans who like to jump in.

I see Barron as a reclamation project. I like Xhekaj more than most and don't expect his trade value now outweighs his potential upside to us. Dvorak sucks and was a mistake from day 1. Pezzetta doesn't really hold trade value, but he's a solid 13th forward.

Yeah, I think if the deal includes other high value such as 1st round picks and whatnot, there's something to it. A deal built around him, not so much.

dvorak, mailloux, barron, and xhekaj dont have the value habs fans think they do.
Tell me more about how a 6’3 - 21 years old RHD with 1.66 PPG in the AHL and 0.6 PPG in the NHL so far this season doesn’t hold the value we think he have?

Would love to hear your thoughts on it.

Just curious. Why wouldn’t he be?

Why is Calgary attaching a 2nd in this deal?
That's the least of the problems with this proposal. As established in other threads, I'm extremely high on Pospisil and this isn't enough for Andersson, yet alone Pospisil.

I'd be asking for Hage and Mailloux just for Andersson.

Well, yeah, the entire deal is not good for Calgary. I just found it blatantly out of whack when the OP is asking for a 2nd back to offset the late first that just happens to be the main piece going to Calgary.

2 first round high value prospects for a guy who is 1 year away from UFA? Prepare to be disappointed. xD

Odds are the 1st going back (probably Florida’s) and Calgary’s own 2nd are only going to be 5-6 picks apart so this is basically Andersson and Pospisil for Barron Dvorak and Pezzetta lol

Nope, we'll get that much easily. Top pairing RHD at 4.5M for 2 playoff runs? Heck you guys got a 1st for Monahan and a 1st for a scrub RHD.
Not from a team that isnt making the playoffs and most teams that are making the playoffs don't have that deep of a prospect pool to hand out 2 prospects like that.

Except you don't and you need to understand that. Montreal owns a conditional pick from Calgary that could be CGY 1st or FLA 1st. There's a difference. You're trying to count chickens before they hatch.

Look at what Nashville got for Ekholm in an identical situation. Ekholm was older and can't get you the 50 points Andersson does. It's going to be easily that. I think he'll get more. There's not another defenseman who can play top pairing RHD on the market.

I think if Calgary moves him it'll be for more than I just laid out. I said it would be a good prospect and a 1st for Lindholm last year. It ended up being a good prospect, 1st, top 6 wing, bad prospect and another pick.
