Every time Zegras is brought up, it’s the same crazy mindset regardless of the fans: “Zegras sucks, we want him.”

And then offer a bunch of smaller pieces that are of no need to the ducks and get offended when they hear no.

I don't think that's the issue, I think the issue is that he's a divisive player.
You can talk to a fanbase and half of them will see a high skill player that's maybe had some issues the last couple seasons but are willing to bet on potential, and then you'll have the other half that see a one-dimensional player who might not even be in the NHL in 5 years; similar to guys like Hoffman or Athanasiou.

Also, that logic is HF, and has been for a very long time.

Sure but I'd argue that most of the second group aren't actually watching Ducks games and are just regurgitating other uninformed opinions. No one from an Anaheim perspective (fans or management) agrees with some of false narratives that are spun about Zegras' character or defensive ability. It's all massively overblown. Despite being quite snakebitten last year, the kid was just -1 on a team that finished -93...I realized +/- isn't much to go on but surely hard to argue he's their biggest issue on the defensive end.

Hockey fans are fickle that way, in that defence from forwards outside of the truly egregious (Looking at you Kuzmenko) tends to be either black or white and is mostly just a symptom of coaching/structure.

For years in Calgary we heard how Johnny was a one-dimensional soft tiny winger. Then Sutter starts and he's leading takeaways, his line is absolutely putting on a clinic every night; all of a sudden he's sound. It's just how it is for forwards.

The problem with trading Zegras now is, they won’t get anywhere near what many fans would expect. Teams just aren’t going to give Grade A pieces away for what many believe, may never be anything more than a streaky player, who when he’s cold, he goes dormant. It’s not bad luck like most streaky players. He resembles an MIA Anthony Mantha. Where you don’t even hear his name during a game.

So they’re in a tough spot with him. He’s gonna have to work his way out of this and grow as a player. Problem is, he’s 23 and at 23, you’re settling into who you’re gonna be as a player. Especially if you’re not a big C, who take longer to hit their prime.

They have time to decide what they’re gonna do with him, but his value has plummeted over the last year. That only changes if he becomes a consistent player. He just doesn’t do anything else, when he’s not on the scoresheet.

Hes actually the most noticeable player on the team on a night to night basis (especially since being moved back to center) Constantly creating chances for himself and his line mates.... and this year hes even noticeable making smart plays in the D zone and the neutral zone. So ya, this isnt a thing where he is invisible/or streaky... it really is just low confidence/unlucky.

I dont think hes a streaky player at all really, right now i think its an overall lack of confidence (a lot of players not just zegras), hes still very dynamic... but people arnt burying the chances, and hes prob guilty of holding stick to hard.

His value hasnt plummeted.... if anything its prob raised... now people see he can be a player who competes/plays defense, and a buyer knows he has the offensive talent.

He's not doing nothing ... Whoever thinks that isn't watching the games. Since moving back to center, his line's xG% is over 60%. The eye test matches that, since going back to C his lines have been the best on the team.

I wish theyd just say "i hate his face" rather than spew out the dumb talking points that always exist when talking about Zegras.

Hes already proved all of them wrong, and eventually the pucks going to start going in for him and his linemates and a lot of people are going to have to eat crow... or you know hide from these threads.

Aren’t you a Ducks fan? How can you say he’s invisible? He just isn’t getting on the scoresheet but is clearly visible putting in the work.
