Obv I LOVE the Protas talk on here. Like @HTFN , I’ve been a card carrying “Protas guy” since I first saw him play.

Hell, last year — and in a bit of a drunken stupor — I made the “nutso” claim that he would become a point per game player (80pts, right @PlushMinus? 😂😬).

I scaled that back to 60pts — however I don’t think any of that is outlandish. He’s becoming what I thought he’d become. A play making winger with amazing vision and hockey IQ and a body that would allow him to “own the puck” when he gets it — and can steal pucks so quickly.

Dude is gonna me an absolute menace if he can stay healthy — OH and his younger brother (with better hand maybe?) is coming along as well.

Indeed.

There was a play in that game where Protas appeared to steal the puck but the guy got it back, then he took another swipe, then he took a third swipe and the player clearly thought he was clear but Protas's reach was so huge that the third swipe was successful and he completed the take-away. Anyway, that was good.

I surely do remember and I'm committed to reminding you every now and again

60 is possible, for sure!

I have also liked pro. Maybe not as much as some but i believe in the path and that it takes two. Thing about Pro (and McMichael) is that THEY keep growing. Some just can’t do it.

But biggest thing this year from Pro is that he is imposing his will. Come across in two ways. First he is definitely more physical. But he also looks a lot faster. I think those two things go hand in hand.

I am also bullish that Lapierre will follow suit. He is a year behind. Thought maybe he was ahead. Maybe not. But i believe he will get there.

I really liked Pro but I honestly didn't see the jump in his play for this year which is always fun to see a prospect surpass my expected upside. His speed and decisiveness definitely stands out. Was dubious with him being on AO's line as I didn't think he could process the game passing wise at the level needed. He always flash passing ability but always seemed slightly behind 'real' speed needed at the NHL level. Props to him overall so far.
