C/W Marat Khusnutdinov (2020, 37th, MIN)

Played for SKA today in the KHL. Got a secondary assist on Podkolzin's goal :thumbu: He seemed a tad overwhelmed at times in the game, but that might just be natural for his first game in a long time in the big league. He had a nice rush from the neutral zone to the offenseive zone, going around three players and getting a half-chance from a sharp angle shot. A promising glimpse of what is to come hopefully!

At the WJC I felt he could fly but he couldn’t stand up if a bigger guy bumped him. He needs to get stronger, but I was impressed with his tenacity and willingness to go to the dirty areas.

1C for the senior team for Russia today with quite a few good KHL players on the team. He’s obviously viewed very highly in Russia. Any chance he can get consistent top 9 minutes with the SKA team next year?

Don't mistake such reports for the real thing. First of all it is a on paper senior team while it is really a basically U23 team with mostly even younger players. And Khusnutdinov centering the first line on that roster is due to other centers too being 19-23 years old and not exactly being projected stars. It is a pretty experimental thing.

It's great for Khusnutdinov to play on the line with Chekhovich who is this year's best forward loan in the KHL and Zhafyarov who is having a breakout season. I would not bet on Khusnutdinov getting too many minutes next year. Maybe top9, maybe if he is lucky and SKA does not go shopping in the offseason.

Huge outch! Ugly shoulder injury in the NT game. Out four months the report says.

The only positives here is his line and he were great in the game and this reglar season is nearly over. Now he will have to rehab and get ready for next season.

Oof, that's brutal. You cant squat or really work your upper body at all while rehabbing a shoulder. Luckily he's young enough that he should be able to bounce back fully

The forward of the St. Petersburg SKA Marat Khusnutdinov on his Instagram page said that he had recovered from his injury.
It is noted that the forward began training on the ice.
Recall that Khusnutdinov was injured in February 2021 in the second period of the Swedish Games match with the Finnish team (3: 2). He needed an operation.
Khusnutdinov last season took part in 12 matches of the Kontinental Hockey League as part of SKA and scored two assists.
The 18-year-old striker played for the Russian national team at the 2021 World Youth Championship, where Igor Larionov's team took fourth place. In seven matches in the tournament, Khusnutdinov scored two goals and gave three assists.
