50/50 AHL-NHL is my bet. Secures that extra RFA year.

Good skills, but a tweener. Matthews and Kotkaniemi are the same height, but 35lbs difference in muscle.

I only watched the 1st period (preseason being brutal) last night but from what I saw, this kid is outstanding.

Dare I say, Montreal might have an excellent center core shaping up (2-3 years) with JK/NS/RP?

Impossible...

Oloffson isn't a bad prospect either. + Hillis/McShane/Fonstad/Houde from 2018 draft. Now we need a LD prospect.

Dermott for a 2nd

What do you mean by tweener? He's been one of their best players and pretty consistent as well. He'd definitely play good minutes if they wanted him to.

Underweight with a junior player's body. In the NHL you'd ideally want 210-220lbs for 6'2'' player.

Kid problems, will be fully match fit after 2 summers.

Matthews isn't the norm, though. He came into the league at something like 218lbs

He seems pretty good. Should end up a decent 2nd liner most likely. Im a Leafs fan and think he might make Montreal's roster but don't think he could do the same if he played in the 6.
In 3-4 years if our best forward could step into the Leafs lineup and take a place on the 2nd/3rd line and not look out of place I'd be a happy camper. Thats if he doesn't end up like Yakupov, which is totally possible.

I get it. He's falling down sometimes but doesn't look like a ragdoll thrown around out there.

Armia is pretty much the same size with his junior body :)

Armia is also 20lbs underweight for his height. Also 12+17 for 25yo as a benchmark? Winger as benchmark?

Try this guy: Aleksander Barkov at eliteprospects.com
  • Height 191 cm / 6'3"
  • Weight 97 kg / 214 lbs
I don't personally like to think what's an ideal weight for a hockey player. Johnny Gaudreau is basically a child out there but bullying Dmen with his skills. Armia seems to be fine as he's pretty good in cycling the puck and in corner in general.

But yes, it wouldn't hurt KK to put on some muscle first.

Impossible...

It would look much better with Hughes/Dach/Cozens-Kotka-Poehling. I see Suzuki being a winger in the NHL.

220lbs is a standard weight for 6'2-6'3 center. Matthews was just already there, same with MacKinnon.
Kotkaniemi is pretty lanky it would be insane for him to put that much pounds.

I think he will end up at around 200 pounds.
