Was absurd at the time for him to fall out of the top 10. Was clinically insane behaviour to let him slip out of the top 20. I never want to hear another appeal to authority to NHL scouts
Agreed. As a Caps fan, I am hoping the Rangers make some dumb win-now trade and give him to a team in the other conference. But I think that with the cap going up, they won't quite be that desperate.

Let's bump this thread that hasn't had an update in about 6 weeks.

Had 3+7=10 points in 7 games at the World Juniors. One off the tournament lead (and tied for first amongst forwards). Made the all tournament team.

Was one of the best forwards at the tournament and one of the best players in leading his team to a second straight Gold.

Rangers can really use some good news, and Gabe is good news. He'll be signed and in the NHL in April. I'm still holding out hope he's a mini-Kucherov/left-handed Panarin.

Fun player to watch. Not certain his style will translate 5v5, but he competed a lot harder the medal rounds. Certain aspects of his game scream NHL tweener but the resume is just too good for me to ignore

Ribiero/Granlund/Macelli type. If he improves his skating and strength he could end up a better player than all of them

Not sure why you don't think his game will translate 5v5? His hockey IQ is through the roof and players with extremely high hockey IQ usually thrive 5v5. It's the players who rely on just a pure skill or have a good shot who might run into trouble putting up points 5v5.

Gabe with 3 apples tonight in the big game vs BU.

7 points in the last 3 games.

Pulling away as the point leader on BC with 31 points in 22 games. 2nd and 3rd place players have 25 points (Leonard and Hagens).
Also if they played an easier schedule, his totals would be a lot higher. Basically the second hardest SOS ever.

Assist of the year? Dekes through a player, a stick on the ice, takes a high stick, then he completely fools the goalie with the eyes behind his head he makes a perfects pass behind him.
