Yup, no one gets injured in the KHL
Only he was already an established roster player in the KHL. He wouldn't need to earn a spot or minutes out of the minors after injuries. He wouldn't float out of coach's mind because of an injury as one of many minor leaguers.

Look at the Andrei Mironov experiment to see how bringing over a supposed NHL ready established KHL player went. It's a lot of pressure on a player to adapt to the culture, lifestyle, language, ice surface and being in a NHL organization, system and coaching all the while saying they better fit into the NHL right away and keep a job from day one or else. Stagnation and getting buried in the minors for too long is a concern so I get that but it isn't just an issue with foreign players.

Anyway back to Kamenev, he has looked better and better as he's got comfortable. Looks like he's earned the 4C role for now which is good, it's a consistent role and he gets time on both special teams units.

The Mironov situation is completely on Colorado. They never gave him a proper chance and missed out on a good player in the end.

He played like crap. The Avs gave him the change, Mironov did nothing with it. He should have stayed in the AHL for a season and worked on his game if he wanted a NHL future.
He made the right choice then. Why would a sane person at hos age and woth his resume waste time in the AHL? You tremedously overrate that strange thing - "an NHL future'. Many players do. They are human and not immune to propaganda.

It was on both parties, Mironov probably expected more game-time and perhaps a more prominent role while Avs thought they were going to get a tad better defender. Mironov could've been a good NHL defender, but he didn't want to acclimate to the NA culture in the AHL and I don't blame him for leaving either. Avs definitely didn't fail on him, but it was probably best to move on.

It's a really brutal bit of news, especially because the exact same thing happened last year. In his first game for the Avs he took a hit from Orpik which ended his season for all intents and purposes. Basically two full seasons of development time lost at a really crucial stage.

I mean he’s played like 25 games this year showing nice growth & earning a spot for whenever he gets back. So not exactly like last year.

It's a shame. He was making very nice strides and showing off his Hockey IQ out there. Still think he can be our Soderberg replacement in the future but hes had some awful luck setting him back.

Huge year for Kamenev. No idea where he fits in the lineup right now, but it seems to me that they’ll do their best to get him some ice time. They really seemed to like him last season, even got some pp2 time as a 4th liner.

He could be a real sleeper due to all his injuries.

2nd in pt/gm on AHLs Milwaukee as a 19 year old rookie, only beaten by Kevin fiala.

as a 20 year old he was 2nd in points (2 less) than pontus aberg who was 3 yrs older.

in his last 2 seasons, when not injured, he has 17 points in 19 games in the AHL.

If he can stay healthy, and get some confidence, he could surprise people with his offense. 40-55 points would be a surprise in his prime.
