Lots of information in this article
Thanks for sharing that. Spondylolysis, that's what Gabe Vilardi had a few years back when he was with the Kings.

Also, the line about McQueen's injury being the "worst-kept secret in hockey" is laughable. Nobody who knew anything was saying anything publicly.

As much as noone published it, everyone talked about it.

Everyone knew it was lower back and would make the same jokes about it.

i’ll be there happy to see he’s in the lineup
today
well he might not be in the lineup because might be getting a suspension. Crushed Beckett Hamilton from behind into the boards and got 5+game. Was a bad move by Hamilton who turned last second and put himself in that position so think 2 for boarding should've been the call. Only started watching a couple minutes into the 3rd so just saw him briefly on the PP.

He went for a big hit in his first shift, then that boarding later, so to me that suggests he’s feeling pretty good.

I’m not really familiar with the injury. Can’t recall anyone having it in the NHL. Is it even from hockey? Like did he take a spill into the boards? What’s the prognosis generally?

He can skate, he's huge, and he can shoot. Hard to predict where a player that has only played 10 games so far in his draft year ends up on draft day at this time but in this particular year I'd still be surprised if he slipped past 10-11 overall.

If the Devils pick slips into his range I would be thrilled.

I don't know anything about the condition, but I read that it's the same as what Vilardi dealt with for years.

Edit: I just found this
"McQueen said it was a pars fracture — less colloquially known as spondylolysis — which is a stress fracture of the spine common in young athletes. It’s usually caused by repetitive stress rather than an acute injury.

“I know everyone is going off a disc thing, but there was no disc problem ever,” McQueen said. “It was just a fractured bone that needed some time to heal, and I guess it takes longer for those ones to heal but it’s good now and everything is cleared up.”

McQueen acknowledged there is a possibility the massive growth spurt he had may have factored into the issue as he grew into his lanky frame.

“There are a lot of question marks about how the fracture came about,” McQueen said. “It’s kind of an odd fracture but it could have been that I’m really tall and grew super fast or it could just be after I was really tall my body hadn’t quite kept up with me and my core wasn’t as strong as it could have been. Honestly we’re not too sure how it came about.”

The healing process included 12 weeks of rest, so he wasn’t allowed to skate or work out at all. For a young hockey player in his draft year, he admitted it wasn’t easy."
