Speed and skill are there. Needs to learn how to use his body a bit more. He will be good. Needs some confidence is all. I can’t get used to that short stick he uses.

Needs AHL time or better linemates. Kings management seems to be stunting their own players very weird. Put Byfield with some skill players.

I think byfield is a Bust for where he was drafted.. reminds me of a Higher skilled McCarron.. Doesn't have the overall agility and speed to be the dominate player some of us hope of him.

Did you just say he doesn’t have the speed to dominate like some hoped? His skating is one of his best attributes. I question if you have any idea what you’re talking about.

I just don't understand why we have a team full of excellent defensive players and McLellan refuses to play our rookies with any of them to lower the pressure a bit. Put Byfield next to Iafallo and let him shine. Why play him with Athanasiou, our worst defensive player, and Brown, our worst player? Why? I don't understand, what am I missing?

He had a rough game today, but he was going up against Crosby, Malkin, and Carter all day, so I'm not surprised. Great learning experience for him. Just wish he had some help. He had an unlucky tripping call (stick got caught between the legs) and a relatively weak slashing call (love tap on the stick near the gloves, Penguins player kept control of the puck). It is what it is, these are games for him to learn. I just wish he wasn't learning from Brown and Athanasiou.

Michael McCarron you mean ?

That means QB will still be in this league in 2029. :handclap:
would also mean he's right and a waste of a 2nd overall pick
however maybe people should give this 19 year old some time.
maybe they should put him in a position to succeed.
if they are going to continue to play him between Brown and AA I hope they dont burn a year of his ELC
just send him back to the AHL after 9gp

like Why not just play him in a top 6 role? or give some PP time

I dont think you should give anyone PP time to rack up points. He should deserve it. QB is making a handful of rookie mistakes and at the same time you could see why he was a 2nd overall pick. I agree you do need to put him on a line to succeed and that is not with players like Grundstrom, Anasthasiou or Brown.

I hope we dont have to continue about his lack of agality/speed and a waste of a pick. Dumbness need a dumbness respond.

Boldy gets power play time on a stacked Minnesota team that sits near the top of the league standings iirc. You also don’t see Raymond playing with a bunch of bums. He’s another young, highly skilled player being put into a position to succeed. Why can’t QB get the same love?

alot of people just dont know what they are talking about but talk anyways.
and I 100% agree he needs to deserve it but still I dont see how it couldn't hurt to throw him on the PP2 a little here and there and see what he brings

I actually just realized LA is holding a playoff spot. I was going to say given their direction I dont see how it doesnt hurt to give him a little PP time but given where they are prob best for him to earn PP time.

and mistakes are just part of the growing process.

5:28 is too small of a sample size and his numbers with just Brown are still really good. You might as well also highlight the 1st and 5th rows to show that Athanasiou and Brown have much better stats without Byfield than with him. Maybe Byfield is the piano. :sarcasm:

orrrrrr you could match that with the eye test and realize I also addressed his time with Brown.

But I know you won't miss an opportunity to try to find fault.

It was very visibly a night and day difference when AA was added to the soup.

I agree 5:28 is too small of a sample size. Solution? Increase the sample size.

Welcome to the league, kid.

Your wingers are the biggest liability in the league who just came off an extended IR visit and a vet who will eventually get a statue outside staples center...unfortunately he's already a statue. Oh, and not even Kopitar and Danault can raise his stats as much as you have. But good luck with all that AA'ing!

Haven't followed Byfield closely this year, but did someone slice his achilles/break his knees? Because his skating has always been one of his best features. Like, it's almost unfair that a guy his size can skate that well.
