Can't speak on Laf because I don't watch the Rags but QB definitively belongs in the show.
Just imagine a 3rd line grinder and you can picture Laf.

He doesn’t make too many mistakes nor does he ever attempt to do anything with the puck. It’s strange to see a first overall play like Dryden Hunt.

My best guess is that the team has a plan in place for introducing all prospects into the system, regardless of status or pedigree. As much as I complain about ice time management for the whole team, slow-rolling new prospects into the league isn't the worst idea. We never really know what guys are dealing with. Soreness, cramps, fatigue, a cold, whatever. Kaliyev's a great example: his average time on ice over the whole season is 12:39, but his last ten games he's averaged 13:22 and his first fifteen games he averaged only 12:10.

All of that is to say that I expect Byfield is here for the long haul, he won't see the AHL again (unless it's for a conditioning stint after an injury, knock on wood). It just might take a few games with LA's coaches at the helm. Byfield certainly looks ready though. It just doesn't help that he's centering two of our worst players right now in Brown and Grundstrom.

I'd love to, of course, but all my lineups tend to predominantly feature our prospects. I'd roll out:

Kempe - Byfield - Vilardi
Iafallo - Kopitar - Kaliyev
Turcotte - Danault - Arvidsson
Lemieux - Lizotte - Moore

And then play all three lines about equal ice time at even strength. But that's just me :)

I especially like your 3rd line. I'd swap your 1st and 2nd lines for now, until Byfield is ready to face off/shadow the league's best centers.

Considering age and draft pedigree/expectations, I like Byfield's trajectory, which is upward and upward during his short time since draft day and his young age.

Lafreniere has had the tougher road, to make impact as a 1OA in the NHL and a lot of the success of that has to do with the coaching staff, teammates, etc.

Byfield at best could become a guy like Malkin if he can keep growing. Doubt he'll get the points like Malkin but that body is huge.
Yea the Byfield is a bust can be put to rest now. Hes already shown enough to belong whether its this season or next. The real question is can he reach his ceiling. May take another 3 years to answer that question because hes got some refining to do and he also needs to bulk up so he can use his size to his advantage against men. Skys the limit for him and I think Kings fans are relieved that hes as good as he is now. Theres always doubt with a project pick especially at #2 overall with an NHL ready Stutzle right there waiting.

Big ups to Sherwoods first big signing since returning to the league!

I truly thought I was the only person on earth using that Sherwood composite and then I saw him with the sponsorship and I was like

Great VALUE stick but I'm not thrilled with it, I'd definitely spend more money playing a tourney or something, but it's sturdy as shit for beer league hacks, but handles like a brick. I'm sure he's got a better pro stock version or something

Never used the Code, but I have a Rekker coming in this week and am very excited.

not that it matters, but we do have a ‘dedicated’ Sherwood thread over on the rink Sub-Forum if anyone is interested!

found the same thing with my Sherwood. Not a fan.

really like my CCM Jetspeed. Puck rockets off the blade.

tried two different True’s. Not bad, handles similar to the Sherwood.

saying that, the puck came off Byfield’s blade like a rocket on that goal. Very impressive to see. Kid is still growing and still learning. Will be fun to watch.

had Two Rekker’s. Same stick same model, same lie and curve. One was awesome one was a dud. Almost like it was dead, no snap to it. I loved my first one, best stick I had, was so disappointed when I got the second one and it felt so different. Went to a JetSpeed lately and loving it.

My feeling with True sticks are if you're not getting the top stick, don't waste your time. The catalyst 9 is great. I haven't tried the project X but don't consider the top of the line stick. Seems like an increase in money for being the lightest stick. Loved the Jetspeed FT3.

Pretty bad today... his teammates definitely aren't doing him any favors damn they suck. Brown is useless why don't the Kings put QB in better position to be successful.....

Worst possible linemates today in AA and Brown, both are absolute liabilities.

QB is close to 80% CF, GF, and HDCF without them. With them? All are awful. There was more than one shift where it was Byfield-Brown-AA with Maatta out there and like what are you trying to do? There was one shift where three times in a row Byfield recovered a puck, passed it to Brown, and Brown promptly turned it over before Byfield got it again...repeat three times, then somehow, oddman break against with Byfield being the only backchecker.

No powerplay time, no 3v3 time (but a dying for breath Kopitar played 5.5 of the last 7 minutes of the game/OT before having front row seats to the game losing goal), bad deployment, and only getting shifts every 5-6 shifts with those guys. It's not looking good. Kings are doing everything they can to submarine their prospects and every time you think it can't get worse you get the above. Tm is absolutely atrocious, I cannot bear another minute of this regime.

It’s truly insane. Same deal with Lafreniere in NY. If your objective was to ruin these players, you would do nothing differently from what these teams have done to “develop” them.

The only thing I would do differently is triple shift him, then let him sit a few shifts, then make him PK. Otherwise yeah, there's literally nothing you could do worse. maybe play him at defense. At least they're actually playing him at C, unlike forcing turcotte to W with those two clowns.

For a while and with some other prospects we would kind of make excuses for it but it just intensifies as the year goes on and the veterans' play is clearly, visibly slipping and that jives with the results.

It is truly beyond insane management and coaching.
