Oh yeah of course. Not saying this kid is remotely in that class or something, just that a inordinate number of players who were (to become) amongst the best ever were identified at a very young age. Didn't seem to harm them any.
I probably should have quoted Butch's post because i was responding to his post.
I think the effect of early media and public hype is pretty over-rated, both in positive and negative outcomes.
A local news article or a even a small piece in the national media for those guys is consumed as a quick story and quickly forgotten, until it is brought up once they make it. I mean Mitch Marner had a CP24 piece at like 4. The internet has dramatically changed how people track prospects and consume media. Instead of being known locally as the hyped kid who didn’t make it if it fails, it will be insanely well documented on the internet and by all prospect hockey followers
I personally don’t think it is healthy or good to put that type of pressure on a 13 year old. It seems immoral to pimp a kids passion for insta followers.
If the kid is legit, he plays in Quebec, he’ll be noticed and drafted. If anything, I would think hype accounts like this would actually hurt him in the eyes of scouts (although most will readily blame the parents, coaches or whoever is feeding into this). The hockey world is relatively small, he plays in a region that is heavily scouted. The skills guy is just using this kid to push his brand. It strikes me as morally bankrupt.
