For some reason I thought Nico was a RW, is he projected to be a center at the NHL level as well because that would be huge for Philly.

He's projected to be a center. He will need to fill out to play it at the NHL level though. There are very few elite centers who are slight. The only real example is Giroux.

Living in Halifax, Nico's skill would be welcomed on the Flyers.

Hextall just needs to take whoever NJ doesn't. Then go out and try and snag another 1st rounder!

Even if he stays 6'0 that shouldnt too much of a problem if he fills out. Either way finding out he was a Center was such a pleasant surprise given the Flyers need for a top 6 C and how hard they are to come by.

Tons of better prospects than Hischier have benefitted from an extra year in the CHL just look at Marner who returned after putting up 2 ppg in his draft year and returned. Ehlers went back. There are tons of examples.

I can't think of a player harmed by going back. In junior you get more ice-time and can try things out at a lower level. It's unlikely Marner is used as a PKer frequently in the AHL or put in defensive situations. Sometimes, moving up too quickly can lead to a player only being used to his strengths, which hurts their ability to round out their game long-term. Because confidence-wise, it would be detrimental to try them in these roles against a higher level of competition.
Assuming Nico falls to the Flyers, it's almost certain he stays in Jr. Will enjoy his potential head to head battles with Rubtsov...unless German gets traded to Halifax!

That crossed my mind too. Doubt it happens but if it did, I`d be making the trip to the Metro Centre a few times next season for sure.

I honestly feel that the Flyers are in a better position than the Devils. This seems very much like the Hall/Seguin draft. Devils make the decision for both clubs.

I think Patrick would be better off with the Devils and Hischier with the Flyers.

Imports need to play a whole year in the CHL before being traded so it is most likely impossible he ends up in Halifax. And Mooseheads will have pick #11 in the Import Draft. They can add an impact player with that pick without spending assets.

Only if NJ takes Patrick.

If it wasn't for healthy concerns, I think that would be almost a lock. Still almost every scout would take Patrick. Not that Hischier would be any worse, but a big right handed center sounds good. I personally just prefer Hischier, ofc he has no real injury concerns on him. I've been more exposded to Hischier and for that reason also I like him more.

This isn't true. Bob McKenzie had to go to 23 scouts to break the tie for the 2 http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/devils-claim-top-pick-in-dramatic-nhl-draft-lottery~1112101

Craig Button said in a TSN 1040 interview this week that the gap has been closed primarily due to Hischier's play rather than Patrick's injuries.

Button: Hischier has closed gap, as opposed to Patrick falling off

Craig Button says Nolan Patrick and Nico Hischier will both be very good NHL players, and isn’t sure which one has a higher ceiling. Craig says the closeness in rankings is because Hischier has shown the skill and ability to be a number one pick, as opposed to Patrick falling due to injuries. Craig says Patrick’s domination after returning from injury and in the WHL playoffs has to be recognized.

The fans seem to be heavy on Patrick, while the scouts are torn right down the middle. They see something different.

About time, because Patrick hasn't shown me why he'd be the #1 guy. I thought that was the case for most of the scouts and fans a while ago.

Just hope Flyers get Hischier.

His draft +1 season was insane and he put up identical numbers this year despite injuries and losing Hawryluk, Quenneville and Provorov. The only other ppg forward was 20 year old Reid Duke, whose ppg was much lower.

Patrick is also a guarantee to be a center, while Nico may be a wing at the next level.

This is why I hope NJ takes Patrick

I don't know about you but 1.4 PPG at WHL at u-18 is not "insane" to me. It's pretty good. "Insane" is like 2 PPG or at least close.
