You mean his brother Ryan McLeod ? Matthew is Stromes brother whos with Hamilton
He has an older brother Matthew who is a nothing prospect, but got written up in the article about the Stromes and the McLeods. He played OJHL and Canisus this year, he's a nothing prospect where it would be a surprise if he could make it in the lower tiers of Euro hockey. Ryan McLeod is a legit prospect who many think will challenge for a 1st round spot in 2018. It is weird how two neighbours have 5 likely nhl picks between them, with only one kid being a nothing prospect.

Edit: Here's his elite page

I think he can become a faster Jordan Staal. He'll probably never be as good defensively as Staal, few players are, but i like his odds of reaching his potential.

Therrien will have him in the 4th line next season. He's looking for next Staal, doesn't care which prospect he needs to rush to pigeonhole that 3rd/4th line guy. If McLeod is lucky, he won't be drafted by Habs.

He's going to go top 10 easily IMO doesn't matter where others rate him.

Size, Speed, Skill, RH Shot Center. I wouldn't be shocked if he's taken somewhere between 4 and 7.

I'm going to start this off by saying I've been a huge McLeod fan and have had him in my top 5 a good part of the year in fact.

In my 3 to 5 viewings from Mississauga games, I saw a fast skater who could create offense with his passing, speed, size, hands, and that would compete very hard.

After 3 canada games at the U18, I haven't seen much of it. In fact, I've started seeing all the flaws people were seeing when they said he didn't have much offensive potential. I can see that now.

But from what I've seen, the ''big two-way player'' is ******** as well. He's a trainwreck defensively. Turnovers after turnovers. He's been very bad defensively. I'd even go as far as to say that in terms of defensive play, he's probably been Canada's worst forward. Now I can see great defensive effort from him but it's just not working. He makes mistakes, loses the puck, makes bad passes that lead to scoring chances for the other team.

So I've had him in my top 5 for a while and now I have some trouble having him in my top 15. He's big and his skating is very very good. He's a center. That's all cool but he doesn't have a good shot, is a good passer but doesn't have great hockey sense in my opinion. Has decent hands but not elite skills either. I'm not sure I see much from him right now from those 3 games.

Now I'm not stupid and I know it's only 3 games. However, it worries me a lot. I know I can't overlook my previous viewings where I thought he was absolutely amazing. Hopefully he ends the tournament well, because so far it's been pretty bad. A player this fast, with his size and compete, should become a NHL player... and he could become a steal as well, but right now I wouldn't take him top 10 that's for damn sure.

He played better yesterday, to be fair.

Still, there should be alarm bells over his inability to get shots on net (3 shots in 4 games in this tourney) coming off the legitimate finishing concerns through 2 OHL seasons. Throw in the good but certainly not outstanding passing ability and how much offence are you getting from him?

This is one tournament, you can't read too much into it. But it's your age group and if you can't stand out offensively against it while playing on a good team...it's not a good sign at all.

I don't see why he should go ahead of Jost, Keller and Brown at this point.

As an Avs fan, I can see some similarities for sure. McLeod can become better than that if all goes well though.

I mostly worry because I would not want to pick up a Skille at 10th overall. More and more I like Brown more if we go the large-center-likely-available-at-10 route.

Agreed. He has not helped his cause... Skates like the wind but it almost seems out of control sometimes.. Can probably add a couple D that can go ahead of him too. (Bean, Fabbro)

Should Bellows go ahead of him?

Yes.

Matthews, Laine, Puljujarvi, Juolevi, Dubois, Nylander, Chychrun and Tkachuk should all be guaranteed to go ahead of him.

Jost, Kunin, Keller, Fabbro, Logan Brown, Sergachyov, Bean, Gauthier, Bellows and Rubtsov all -should- go ahead of him, but might not.

Arguments then could be made for Asplund, Tufte, Dineen and McAvoy.

Laughable.

hes got good size and skates great, best thing about mcleod is that he works hard on the ice...but in terms of his overall skills, they are just good, like very good, nothing approaches elite

Agreed with pretty much all of the this. Closer to 20 for me, than top-10 like others.

(McAvoy should also go ahead of him for sure)

Kid is pretty good. I wouldnt sleep on him. Upside is in the Brandon Dubinsky range -- a 2c on a decent team, a 1c on a bad team. This kid will find and keep a job in the NHL. Can't say the same about a lot of potential 1st rounders like Girardi, Abramov, Bean who are all or nothing.

He was excellent tonight.

The shooting questions still remain though for me. I think I counted 4 or 5 legit opportunities to shoot in a quality area and he did not score on any. It was either his shot deflected or he fanned on a loose puck in the crease or a pass (like the play that led to the pass to Chychrun in OT that the Swedish goalie read as pass the whole time) or he was simply stopped with a shot that was not impressive.

At least he was getting those opportunities, unlike the first 3 games of this tournament.

How does Antoine Vermette sound as comparable/projection?

Perhaps a bit of a better playmaker but worse fnisher.

Both share a lot of traits.

There was a scoring opportunity he had in the 3rd where I just cringed...gave the goalie an hour to get ready for the shot.

Otherwise, he played really well tonight - one of the best players on the ice for either team. His play has improved a lot the last couple of games after a pretty rough start.
