I've watched McLeod play a few times this year and i dont think i'd use a 1st on him. He has a good motor, but the IQ and offensive instincts just dont seem to be there. He lacks purpose and vision. I cant say there is anything in his game that i peg as exceptional.

Its strange that Mcleod is ranked as high as 5 yet Logan Brown is barely in the 1st rd. This is a player that will be a steal for the team that drafts him.

I am really starting to warm up to Brown. His first half of this year concerns me production wise but he picked it up and he passes the eye tests when you watch him. He could end up being really special. Not sure he is top 10 worthy. Draft day moves could be interesting because of the number of picks with not much between them. Someone may really want a specific player in that 10-15 group.

Which site has Logan Brown barely in the first round? Hockey Prospect, ISS, Mckeens and Future Considerations all have him between 10th-17th overall for their March rankings

The Mississauga vs Barrie game 7 will be a good one to watch for the prospect watchers (and Flames fans). Tuesday at 7:30 ET on SN360 as far as I can tell.

Get a good look at Nylander, McLeod, Bastian, and Day.

Also, are there any other teams in the CHL with this much draft-eligible talent? Two top-10 guys and two guys who might push for the late 1st? They have to be a favorite to go deep next year, if not this year.
As mentioned London and Windsor, Steelheads have some interesting guys for future drafts. Tippitt for 2017 for example THN had him 4 for next year, and while not putting up that high end number Ryan McLeod for 2018 has 1st round potential.

Without getting too off topic, Bastian missed last game with a upper body injury. Not sure if he'll be ready for today's game.

After watching Missy-Barrie Game 7...I can safely say he has almost everything you want, but that wrist shot needs a lot of work.

I see a player who is a lock to at least be a 3rd line C. But if you are picking in the top 12, you want to know can he become a 2nd line C?

My concern is he looks like he might top out as a 15 goal guy in the NHL. Maybe 20 in a career year.

And I don't think he has the high level of creativity needed to pick up a ton of assists either. He's not going to collect 40 assists a season.

So you are looking at a guy constantly in the ~40-50 point range at most I suspect.

Could be another Vermette IMO

McLeod will score goals at the NHL level even with his underwhelming wrist shot. His speed will ensure he gets a larger number of breakaways/odd-man rushes than other players, and he's not afraid of driving the net and being around the blue paint. He'll get 10-20 goals a year that way.

Still it's worth noting that he's not a goal scorer, he's a playmaker. In that game 7 he made a number of fantastic passes that didn't end up in the back of the net. His vision and playmaking abilities are top 6 level, and his hands are pretty good too. I don't see overwhelming offensive potential, but he looks like a pretty safe bet to put up 40-50 points a year, which is 2nd line production.

Combine that kind of production with his speed and two-way game and you get to understand why he's rated as high as he is. He's arguably the best skater in the draft, and that, combined with his strong effort level and motor, makes him a terrific forechecker, backchecker and PKer. He was a key penalty killer on one of the best PKs in the OHL. It's also worth noting that he's an absolute ace on faceoffs. These attributes make him one of the better defensive forwards in the OHL according to Brock Otten.

A lot more to this player than just points. Even if he's only putting up 40-50 points, he's a great 2nd line center because of the advanced all-around game. If his offensive game develops better than expected and he turns into a 50-60 point producer, we're talking about a #1 center caliber player.

This guy is Darren Helm 2.0. Would look good on a lot of teams.

His skating, play in his zone and effort level is Helm line but offensively I see him as a 45-60 point player. Elite second liner and a shut down guy.

You can only get so far as a center in the NHL without having a wrist shot that teams have to respect.

Backstrom might be one of the greatest playmakers in the league, but he wouldn't get nearly as many assists if he couldn't wreck you with his deadly wrist shot.

Teams will figure out McLeod has no shot that is worth a damn and just like most playmakers without a shot, will see their production severely hampered.
