I would be surprised if Janko ever plays in the NHL. Another Chucko or Nemisz in the making.

LMFAO...had a good chuckle at that stuff after my post.

Anyways, I think with Monahan looking like a future #1C Toews type player, that relieves alot of the organizational pressure from drafting Jankowski early. They can afford to leave him in college to develop, and if hes a #2/3 C in the future it wouldn't be a waste of a pick.

Or he could pull a Charlie Coyle and leave college for Junior at the end of this year. Since he turns 20 on September 13 next year, could he play in the CHL NEXT season?

How is that a comparable?

His edges are already better than both those guys; which is the main reason Nemo is still out of the NHL.
I'm actually curious why you would compare him to those 2 players cause I don't see it.

I don't see why he would. College is equally as good, if not better, for development, and the physical aspect in particular, which is what he needs.

Another big plus for the NCAA is the soft schedule, Janko has much more time to hit the gym and bulk up.

Not true, generally prospects who perform better in the CHL do better in the NHL. Point comparables are something like .33 for CHL vs. .23 for college. If he wants to play physical he should play in the dub

I'm kind of afraid he will pull a Colborne and leave before he's ready, you may be right if Joe Colborne played in the dub he might have had a quicker transition to the physicality of the pro game.

I think you make a good point here, I think Monahan also takes pressure off Jankowski. He is no longer being looked at like he needs to develop into a #1 center and that can only help IMO. I haven't been able to see alot of Jankowski games because of NCAA games being very difficult to watch in Canada but in the highlights he shows a great deal of skill and vision. It looks to me like he has the tools to play a game similar to Joe Thornton. If Monahan can develop into a #1 which I believe he will and Jankowski develops into a playmaking #2 center I think the Flames will be in a very good position going forward.

As for Jankowski leaving school early, I just don't see him leaving before he is done at least his 3rd year. Gillies is more likely yo leave college first IMO.

My brother played hockey at providence last year, and he told me that Jankowski is a highly skilled player, but he wonders if he will ever play in the show, because he is just so small and skinny. Yes he might be tall, but according to my brother the guy can barley lift in the gym.

Where are you getting your numbers? The NHLE developed by Gabe Desjardins (stats nerd extraordinaire) has NCAA at ~.4, and CHL at ~.3. CIS might be .23, though.

he is also barely 19, he has lots of time to work on his strength and build muscle.

If anything this is a positive as he has so much room to grow. He most likely spends all 4 years at Providence so he has lots of time to grow (hopefully your brother should him how to train)

It was also his first year hitting the gym. There will be differences between a guy like him and a guy who's been lifting since he was 14 or 15. He'll improve in that sense.

Ya, my brother told me, that he has a tremendous amount of skill, but he needs to bulk up. And I think him going to college route will be better for his development as a player, the shorter schedule allows him to focus on the important things.

That is true, but he has so much to fill, one will think does he have enough time to fill out to where he needs to be in order to play in the nhl.

It really doesn't take long once you get into it. Plus he still has a few years before he's even done playing NCAA and he'll have some solid years of training under his belt. As long as he keeps working he'll add the appropriate amount of muscle.

That is if he stays for the whole 4 years. But there is no denying the kids talent, if he can bulk up to say about 210-215 he will be a force to be reckoned with.

Is that all? You are small.

I am 6ft 8 and weigh 260 . I am 11% body fat. I have a size 14 shoe. Big feet I know. When I was 18 I was still only 6ft 4 and 190 . I was a short skinny little runt.

The only problem is some of the women I date are too fragile. I have to be very careful .

You couldn't have completely missed the point of the post you quoted any better if you tried...

... unless you were JUST fishing for a reason to brag about how "big and buff" you are to a bunch of people who don't really care.

He's listed as 6 foot 3 and in the Flames camp I believe he was listed as 6 foot 4? Considering he was 6 foot 2 at the moment of being drafted, it's obvious he was (and potential still is) still growing. It's hard to bulk up while doing that. Once he finally stops growing, it will be much easier.

He'll be given lots of time. He'll be allowed to grow his game and train properly.

That's probably about right to think about it this way. He gained 15 lbs (hopefully muscle) since last season. If he gained an additional 10, 7, & 5 in the subsequent years, it would send him into the AHL/NHL for the 2016/2017 season at right around 210. That's not huge these days but plenty big enough for a 6'4 frame. I'm no flames apologist but the guy is skilled, and he has excellent vision. He's either a decent #2 or very good #3 center, not bad for where they picked him, though it will have been a long development horizon. The flames aren't going to be competitive anytime soon though, so I'm not sure it really matters, unless you're a flames fan.

I notice there are a few guys that when gym related stuff or height/weight are spoken about on the forums, they like to post to brag...too mostly other dudes...about how 'ripped', 'buff' or in shape they are. This is HF, not your Match.com profile guys.
