Being a little cocky must not mean that they are bad people in general.
DeAngelo is one example IMO. From what I heard he is a chill and nice guy away from hockey. Once he hits the ice he is a hothead and always playing on that fine line between selfcontrol and losing it. As long as he has himself under control on the ice that "hothead" is a great thing for the team. If he loses himself, he gets into trouble.
His former coach Keefe even said, that this 99% of the time one of DeAngelos best talents. He can push himself further than normal people. But sometimes he can't control it anymore (as seen at least once every season sind his pre-draft year)
To be fair, DeAngelo was more than just a bit cocky. Wasn't he suspended multiple times for saying racial slurs on the ice?
