This is true in Canada,but isn't universal in the states. A lot of States go by the school year for cut off dates, and not January 1st.Well in school they go by birth years and so hes a late 97 therefore his college eligible year.
Good on him on not trying to force Minnesota's hand like some other guys are doing to their teams right now. Although, I could see the benefit in having one more year at Wisc. It will be interesting to see how he does in this AHL sample.Signed ATO with Iowa.
