Is this guy a center or RW? Sort of seems like Chris Drury if you go by write ups

He played wing this year but long term he see's himself as a center.

Edit - he played center every year except this year. I suspect he'll be a center next year. This was his first year in college hockey. It's typical to start these guys off on the wing and transition them back to center.

From an Islanders perspective, if we draft him(which is a decent shot since I see him going in the 15-21 range and we pick 19) it probably would be in hopes he is a goal scoring RW.

A lot of high-end young talent start off playing center and move over to the wing at this point, as they are usually the best players on their teams growing up, unless they are part of a very stacked youth program (GTHL Marlies, Honeybaked, etc). Long-term he could be a winger, but its yet to be determined, his skill set seems to make it seem like he may be best utilized on the wing at the next level.

Id argue his skillset is better off at center at the next level. He plays a great 2 way game!

But we shall see. We're still 2-3 years from him being in the NHL.

I can't see him falling past 19. Id put him in the 14-19 range. But if the isles pick 19 there is a chance he could be there.

I am really high on Luke Kunin. Reminds me a lot of Dylan Larkin in his draft year. I personally believe he could be the Dylan Larkin of 2016. Highly skilled offensively, could work on his skating, but he is a solid player who is well rounded.

I'll admit right off that I have not seen much of this kid's play, but from what's written in a wide variety of sources, I think there's a lot to like about this prospect:
  • undeterred by type 1 diabetes
  • wrapped up high school in three years
  • became increasingly prominent on his team this past year, seeing time at centre as the year wore on
  • praised for his hockey sense
  • noted as a leader
  • has a very quick release and an "nhl type" shot
  • plays with tenacity
  • strong showing at the combine

Between the lines - there seems to be some quality intangibles.

Like a lot of the teenagers bantered about in this forum, I hope he makes the show and thrives.

Wouldn't be surprised if the Sens were high on him and either took him at 12 or dropped a couple of spots to take him in the 14-16 range.

i very much see him as a Sens type of player. If he's the sens guy at 12 i would just take him and not risk the 'trade-back'

I agree ... If they like him ... take him. Its not that much of a reach sand why risk him being taken in between

Yup, IMO he's this years Jake DeBrust. Everyone seems to love what he says and does (on ice and off)

The difference between the two players is that Kunin is more skilled, a better skater, a Centre, and has a superior 2-way game.

Debrust went 15th overall, and Kunin is a lot better prospect. So we shall see where he goes! As you can tell he's one of my favourite prospects in this draft.

Outside of the big 10, he's the best prospect available imo!

Also a big fan of his. Think he'll exceed his draft position, he certainly has the potential to be a very good NHL player, and explode into the top prospects discussion much like Larkin did.

Anybody that drafts him will look like a genius

A bit like Kyle Connor or boeser of last year

I don't think people will be comparing his upcoming season to what Boeser and Connor did this year.
