Thats pretty debatable with how many soft goals Talbot has let in this year.

Vezina and Hart Trophy finalist Devan Dubnyk says hello.

It's the (team) D... it's always been the (team) D.

We don't have a D or a C that can contain and hold the puck until we get our **** together in our own zone. Hence we scramble... and our goalies end up looking dumb.

When was he a hart trophy finalist

Last year I thought Draistl was MSP 2.0 but he looks phenomenal out there. I think he will at least live up to his draft position.
Crow has been eaten.

Those two should never be mentioned in the same sentence. MPS never had hockey sense - I've always said his upside was Erik Cole at best. My fellow Oilers fans were too optimistic on him.

Leon is an elite passer. He's more in line with the Sam Gagner's that the Oilers have drafted but his skating held him back - much like Gagner, Hodgson, Schremp, etc. I suspected if it didn't improve he'd be Hanzal or Couturier (40pt upside).

One of Ducks/Kings announcers compared LD to Hossa. I think that's an apt comparison if he continues to play wing (I hope not).

So were do you guys see Draisaitl playing long term on this team? I mean is he a better Winger or Center

Unsure, looks excellent at wing. He's untested at center but was excellent all junior. Will need 2 NHL seasons before a call could be made

And RNH...

Exactly. Unless you're getting a top 30 dman back for RNH or Draisaitl I'd rather just keep them both and trade one of our wingers++ for a young top 4 dman and hope that dman, Klef, or Nurse can develop into a good enough D core for us.

I think people who want to move RNH or Drai forget just how valuable it is to have 3 centres capable of playing top 6. Allows you to either spread the offence over 3 lines, shift 1 of them to wing, and if an injury occurs to 1 of them you still have a 1st and 2nd line centre.

Has looked good at both to me. I think if we keep RNH he will play wing a bunch, but will still play some centre when injuries occur, or when McClellan wants to spread out the scoring.

Do these extra inches even matter?

HF discusses the wierdest things lol

Well no, not really. But it's a pretty common mistake people make when they see a kid being big then they automatically assume he is going to grow another inch or two when in reality they may have basically stopped growing already. Like when people see some 16 year old who is like 6'3" then they say stuff like "Wow, imagine when he's done growing, he could end up 6'6 and 230 lbs!" and most of the time it's just a false assumption. I guess it's a small pet peeve of mine that I didn't even know I had

I mentioned I was impressed by him the other night against LA. But he Added another goal, was +1 against Toews and Hawks last night. Is it possible this kid is this good...Not bad for a skilled 2014 draftee that plays Center with size.

Where did the people criticizing his skating go?

To be fair, his skating has improved by leaps and bounds. Watching him today though, skating doesn't seem to be any issue. He's blowing by people with his speed, and catching players on the back check.

Leon was always going to be a good player but he isn't suddenly better now because he's scored some points. People are too obsessed with points when measuring offensive contribution; lots of points are had when the player contributes next to nothing to the play, and plenty of goals result from contributions not found on the scoresheet.

Fair point, but last year everyone crapped on LD for 9 points in 37 games despite his very low s%. He was a solid player with solid possession number, but that was overlooked for stat watchers. This year hes not as good as his 1.5 ppg (thanks to high shooting %), but he is improved

If he was he would on pace to net 122 points and win the scoring title. :amazed:

Confidence is a big thing with Draisaitl. If he has it, he is a star.
