Surprised that there is such little talk about his incredible hands. He has a preternatural ability with the puck on his stick, and such soft mitts. How many 6'3+ players can handle the puck like him? Maybe 3, 4 in the world?
It really helps him (along with his size) with handling the puck in night and making nifty plays happen behind the net and along the walls.

Fairly strong statement about his hands. I've heard comments that he is extremely skilled, but I have not heard that he has that level of talent.

Reminds me more of Jason Spezza than Draisaitl, who I think was a lot stronger on the puck in traffic at the same age and more of a shooter.

Will frustrate with his intensity level and is a guy who always looks like he’s on cruise control. Is decent defensively at this level based on his IQ/positioning/reach but will really have to step it up a notch as he moves up levels.

Some days I think he’s a dead lock to be a consistent 25-50-75 #1 center in the NHL and others his skating/compete level scares the crap out of me.

He's one of the best skillset Ive ever seen. There's no weakness, physically... His skating is the only thing that you could say isn't elite, and it won't hold him back at all.

The problem is between the ears. Guy doesn't shoot, guy mails it in at times and he's somewhat growing into his body. Reminds me a lot of Johansen.

This is so true. And to be honest, I think he could be the 90+ points type. But man he's infuriating at times.

He's definitely inconsistent, but I would love him on the Oilers. If we can get him to improve on skating/compete level like we did with Drai, we can get another #1 center.

I watched a lot of Draisaitl, and I loved everything he did, I really don't think the compete level is the same. Draisaitl was always smooth as hell and intense at times, but Dach is just there at times and he refuses to actually do shit it seems, he overthinks or something.

I don't think it's a laziness problem, I don't even know what to say. Dach scares me, because I hate him as a player at times, and then I love him. How do I rank that ? He's going to make me look foolish if I rank him too high and I'll probably look foolish if I rank him too low.

Draisaitl was very similar in junior, and has had moments like that in the NHL too.

And your comment about Drai being a shooter in junior is false. His shooting mentality is something that completely developed in the NHL. His was guilty of overpassing a LOT in the WHL.

His hands are truly amazing. See for yourself and watch some games, or some of his highlight footage, and arrive at your own conclusion. Very rare for a player his size to be able to handle the puck this well.

He is a fantastic, and I rarely use this phrase, elite puckhandler. Early-Spezza type hands. Can dangle as well as any 6'3+ player I have ever seen in the CHL.

I've only seen him play once. Wasn't overly impressed he stayed to the perimeter, didn't engage, little compete. You could see the vision is obvious and a hard shot but he definitely left you wanting more with that size.

Oh and he got a hat trick and 4 points the night before I saw him play. Against the same team. I think that gives you a decent idea of what you're getting with this player. Johansen might be the best comparable

Nice one! Classic HF - one viewing, strong opinion, zero context...

Ahh, my mistake. Mistook you for another poster, @MS.

Apologies!

I don’t think he’s extremely dissimilar from Draisaitl. But again, I think Draisaitl was a thicker, stronger player who liked playing in traffic more (and was better at it) than Dach at the same age. And while Draisaitl was a pass-first guy he did score 50% more goals in his draft year and to me was a more willing shooter with a better shot.

Dach reminds me a ton of Jason Spezza. Similar body type, similar tools, similar play style with the same sort of hands and vision, similar skating stride, same frustrating lack of intensity.

Actually I did provide the context giving a take it for what it's worth I only saw him once approach. I didn't even give a strong opinion I gave both good and bad.

If you didn't like my opinion you don't need to comment. Not everyone has the same opportunities to see these players so consider yourself lucky and stop acting like a prick

You’re sweating your rankings way too much. No one cares enough to look back at your rankings down the road so don’t worry about it.

Massive penalty on the other end missed. Most bull**** call of the series too. Refs were putrid in this series.
The bane of hockey, regardless of the league. Best sport on the planet, but refs from the minor leagues up to the NHL and international play are consistently poor on average and seem trained to factor in multiple situational considerations to every play, instead of just calling the action, which I think separates the level of awfulness from the simple missed calls of basketball/football.

His skating looked Eichel-esque there  effortless strides
He’s got great top-end speed, good acceleration, and a highly efficient skating style considering his size. If you watch him in the corners, he has excellent edges, too.

He’s a legitimate top-5 prospect for this draft and watching him inexplicably fall out of the top-10 and even further on some lists gives me a headache. He’s got a very solid floor (which some people have tried to contest as justification for dropping him down) and with his skating, smarts, size, and defensive ability could play in the NHL next year and do alright, and his vision (best in the draft IMO) gives him as high a ceiling as anyone. His stats got hammered by the incredibly long dry stretch he went through, during which I saw multiple games in person and saw him create a dozen high danger scoring chances each time.
